Full description
Depart from Manaus to Vila Paraíso (the set of the movie “The Jungle”). Your visit begins at a waterfront warehouse where rubber boards boats to be shipped around the world. Here we will enter the Rubber Master House whose majestic architecture shows the wealth of Brazilian rubber plantations from the industry boom and war effort. During the tour, visit the “large tent” where rubber making tools were kept. You will also see the “chapel” and the flour warehouse. Then walk along a short trail into the jungle to see rubber trees as well as witness the process of collecting it. You will see where rubber balls were placed to begin the smoking process. Finally, visit the modest houses where the rubber extraction employees lived. The home portrays the life and habits of the old rubber extraction era.

While I have only good things to say about my guide for this trip (very knowledgeable and enthusiastic person), I really thought the tour was not at all worth the money I spent on it. First of all the communication was not good. I had to get in touch with the tour company to confirm the pick up, while in my opinion it should have been them. Secondly the tribe that we visited was not the one that was mentioned in the description. When I asked why, they told me that since I had a flight that afternoon that is why they took me to a tribe near to Manaus and not the tribe originally mentioned in the description on the tour page. The company in general seemed very disinterested and their handling of the operation seemed extremely lacklusture. Overall a very disappointing experience.

The rubber museum was interesting and gave good insight in the history,. We had to try 3 Indian tribes before we they let us in. They were interested only in selling their stuff than sharing their culture, very disappointing.
