Full description
The people of Malaga are proud of the fact that Picasso was born here and it was a big day when the King and Queen of Spain inaugurated the Museo Picasso (Picasso Museum) on 27 October 2003.  On that first day alone, almost 2,000 people visited the museum, which is housed in the Palacio de Buenavista. You will find it right in the heart of the historic center of the city with the dramatic backdrop of the Alcazaba Fortress and Gibralfaro Castle closeby. Literally two minutes walking distance from Malaga Cathedral, this magnificent old building has been painstakingly restored to befit the importance of the works of the great artist. This tour will start in the Plaza Merced in front of the Casa Natal (Birthplace of Picasso), which has been open to the public since 1988. Then, you'll move on to the Picasso Museum and finish at Plaza Merced.

Exactly, interesting and informative tour about Picasso and his life

First we looked at Picasso's former home with an integrated museum, which gave a first impression of Picasso and his life in Málaga. There are very interesting and private exhibits to look at. The way from the house to the museum leads briefly through the old town, whereby our tour guide repeatedly gave detailed explanations. The museum itself shows many different times and styles from Picasso's time as an artist. Our tour guide not only explained the paintings and the possible interpretation, but asked us for our own opinion and interpretation. In addition, she explained us many details about Picasso's private life and artificial peculiarities, which made the reasons and the way of representation understandable. Afterwards we were guided through the old town for 1 hour, where we also saw places that are not part of the typical tours.

Picasso & Malaga - Just Brilliant

We were met by our guide Monica beside the Statue of Piso in Place de a Mercead and then taken on a journey at our own pace thru the life of Picasso both at his early home and the Picasso Museum established by his family. After this the rest of the time was spent seeing some of Malagas hidden gems, among themEl Pimpa and a small church that from the outside appeared very plain but inside was spectacular. A great tour and well worth the Euros spent
