Full description
Your walking tour begins at the Conde de Guadalhorce Dam, which is the main water reserve in the province of Malaga. Learn from your guide about the history of the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes. This canyon, carved by the Guadalhorce River, is at the center of the province. The path is about 3 kilometers long and less than 1 meter wide. It hangs 100 meters above the Guadalhorce River. You will test your nerve on this high-up adventure. The construction of a water channel from the reservoirs in the north to El Chorro included building a pathway for maintaining the channel. The path is known as El Caminito del Rey (the little pathway of the king) because it was inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII.

Love the trip. The guide was very enthusiastic and shared his knowledge about the place. The van driver was good and prompt and even picked us from the trekking end location saving us a trip back. Had a language issue with the driver as he didn’t speak English but managed it in spite of it. Would highly recommend this for anyone if you are willing to spend 2-3 hours on outdoor trekking for 7km.

It was an early morning start but we were picked up by a very friendly guide called Anna and taken on a comfortable coach. With lots of scenery to enjoy on the way and interesting local info from our guide in English & Spanish. It does take a while to get to and from the actual Caminito by foot but that's understandable as this is a natural attraction. Everything was explained by Anna, who was just lovely. Nearby if we needed her but also left us to explore. The walk it self was spectacular. A little scary at times but very safe and secure. They have done a great job setting this up and allowing us to access such a place of natural beauty. It's not really for those with walking problems or fear of heights but if you can manage it, go for it, it's well worth it!

A superb walk led by knowledgeable guides.

If you are thinking of doing this walk- do it! In a spectacular setting and led by knowledgeable guides. In my case it was Rachel, who was so full of enthusiasm, which rubbed off on many in the group, I’m sure. Her friendly and informative chatting along the way, made it so enjoyable.
