Private Dharavi Tour & City Sightseeing

5. Private Dharavi Tour & City Sightseeing

Known to many as ‘one of the largest slums in Asia’, we prefer to think of Dharavi as Mumbai’s beating heart. Through our educational walking tours, visitors experience a wide range of these business activities: recycling, pottery-making, embroidery, bakery, soap factory, leather tanning, poppadom-making and many more. We’ll also visit the residential areas of Dharavi. People from all over India have come to live in Dharavi, making it a microcosm of India. Our 2 hour+ introduction to Dharavi aims to give visitors a much more nuanced understanding of life and work in Mumbai slums. In the afternoon we will show you other, more traditional sights that Mumbai has to offer This tour is individually designed for you, and you can do and see as little or as much as you please. The tour guide, who also has detailed knowledge of the more traditional sights, will be with you for the day. He/she can give some suggestions for what to see, but ultimately, the itinerary is completely up to you.

Here is my a bit late review: It was AWESOME! :-) Seriously! Even though this particular tour was the first private sightseeing tour in my life, but certainly not the first one in general, it was perfect! If you're in India and especially in Mumbai for the first time - TAKE IT! I was lucky enough to get into hands of - I made this name up ;-) - AA team, with Alam as the guide and Arun as the driver. All respect and special tribute to Alam for spending the most of a very hot day without food and water, i.e. due to ongoing Ramadan, of course, but still keeping top level guiding performance in all the aspects (knowledge, attentiveness, communication, understanding, proactiveness, (emotional) intelligence, assistance, kindness, having sense of humor, integrity, suggestiveness, adaptability, openness, helpfulness, to name just a few) for the whole time of the tour (8h+). Also Arun wasn't bad in his knowledge at all! He provided lots of interesting information and was very supportive, too!

My customized tour of Mumbai and surrounding areas really delivered! I enjoyed the freedom to design my itinerary, while also welcoming feedback and direction from my guide, Alam. I saw everything I wanted to see and more. Alam even added to our experience by arranging for us to take public transportation (train, tuktuk, bus) to some spots, which I probably wouldn't have done otherwise. It was great to have a local figure it all out for me! Alam was a wonderful and personable guide who never wants made us feel rushed. He was generous with his time and very knowledgeable about all of the sites we visited. His experience of living in Dharavi for 27 years enhanced our tour of the slum and gave us a much better understanding and deeper appreciation for the life people lead there. I highly recommend this tour and Alam!

We had a wonderful day in Mumbai!!! Everything was just perfectly organized and made as pleasant as possible for us. Our driver Imran and our guide Ganesh have been super friendly and open minded, so they made us feel like friends, which spending a day together. There is absolutely nothing what the guys have done better! name :)

Arriving in Mumbai as a first time solo traveller was somewhat overwhelming but I’m so glad I booked this tour for the following day as I had a wonderful time and fell in love with the city. There is much to see and learn here.

Truly experience. Mr. Dinesh has my full recommendation
