Full description
Get to know part of Madrid on a 2-hour walking tour of some of its more majestic streets and districts. Begin your tour directly east of the ancient heart of Madrid in the literary neighborhood, the Barrio de las Letras. It's here where some of the greatest writers, poets, and playwrights in history lived. The memorable quotes lining the streets make it one of the cultural highlights of the city by day, and the busy bars and cafés make it a party hotspot by night. As you walk through the area, discover one of Ernest Hemingway's favorite bars, along with his passion for bullfighting. Then visit the Cervantes House, where one of the world's greatest novels, Don Quixote, was written. Next, walk down Calle de Alcalá and the Paseo del Prado, where you'll find iconic buildings that form an incredible skyline of bold designs, vibrant colors, and monumental grandeur.

Joaquin was the tour guide and he was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I used to live in Madrid a few years ago but he took us to cool places that I never knew about before. He talked about the history of this beautiful city in detail which I found fascinating. I highly recommend this tour but make sure to wear comfortable footwear.

Very interesting tour especially for those visiting Madrid for the first time. Our guide, Joaquin, was knowledgeable and thoughtful, the walk not tiring at all. Only problem: the itinerary has nothing to do with what is described. In short, this is a tour of modern Madrid which includes the area of Sol / Calle Alcala / Gran Via. We discovered on the spot from the guide that the itinerary of the "historic" Madrid (I assume what in the description) is instead included in a free tour (free offer) organized by the same agency. For us the itinerary would have made a difference in the choice, not being the first time in Madrid, so I think it is more correct that the description is updated.

It said two hours, but the tour almost three which suited us but it would be better to have those times clear. I was also surprised to find it didn’t end where it had begun. This meant we were in park a long way from home. Again, not a problem but it would have been great to know this.
