This was a cable car ride up the canyon near the botanical gardens and tropical gardens. Some people we have spoken to didn't realise there was more than one cable car in Funchal. It travelled over the river running down to the bottom with waterfalls and great views it was a very good experience. The cable car travelled from THE BOTANICAL GARDENS CABLE STATION UP TO MONTE but NOT The MONTE TROPICAL GARDENS CABLE STATION that is nearby. I pre-purchased the trip online and it cost roughly £24 for two return tickets. Good value. To get to the Botanical Gardens Cable Station you can get a bus at the bottom either 29, 31 or 31A for just €1.95 per person one way. The taxis are a rip off they charge upto €25 to take you up to the Cable Station from the Port. Or about €15 near the bus stops. When we got to Monte there were some smashing little bars overlooking the city. Please be aware if you want to go into the Botanical or Tropical gardens prices are additional. Unsuitable for disabled.

Easy GYG booking process, easy to exchange voucher for ticket. Cable car operating normally despite high winds and operators all efficient. Booked mid January so fewer tourists around and little queuing( I had thought that booking was for Funchal to Monte which is separate charge. Might be worth stating this more clearly)

very recompensated, great service, easy access, but not for people who's don't like to be very hight.

Extremely peaceful. If you want to spend a stress-free day this is for you. Loved it

It was a nice experience, the path could be better described
