Nepal: 16-Day Everest Base Camp Wellness and Culinary Trek

4. Nepal: 16-Day Everest Base Camp Wellness and Culinary Trek

This trek to Everest Base Camp has been designed to offer something uniquely different from what other trekking companies offer by including a trip up to the Base Camp of the most beautiful mountain in this region – Amadablam. The base camp of Amadablam is rarely visited by trekkers. The hike up to Amadablam base camp provides the opportunity to walk from the treeline to high altitude alpine forest and the summer pastures with stunning views of the Maha Langgur range not seen from the main trail to Everest Base Camp. This trek has also been planned to bypass the very popular and often crowded Thyanboche monastery area, staying at the superb Pangboche with the intention of bringing some business to the lodge owners there to have some income for a change. The highest mountain peak of all of them is Mount Everest. Standing at 8,850metres its imposing majesty has inspired awe and wonder in those who live beneath it, those that have read about it and those who have simply seen pictures of it. This Everest Base Camp trek is no exception, following in the footsteps of the great climbing parties. We trek through Sherpa country past fields and villages before the hard work begins as we climb up to Namche Bazaar. Above the treeline the scenery is stark but spectacular. The incredible monastery at Thyangboche is wonderfully set against the backdrop of Ama Dablam, Everest and other snow-capped peaks. Our goal is Everest Base Camp situated on the Khumbu Glacier; we also grab the opportunity to climb Kala Pathar (5,545m) for the ultimate view of Mt. Everest and to capture the spirit of this mountain legend. Your experienced Group Leader and Sherpa Guides will make your health and welfare a priority throughout this Everest Base Camp trek, providing everything possible for a safe and memorable adventure. We have allowed additional rest days for acclimatization to lower the risks of altitude sickness and therefore extended the trek to 22 days with 4 days in Kathmandu. Over the years whilst leading treks in the Himalayas, we have built up a strong relationship with the lodge-owners, such that the owners of these lodges allow our Trekking Chefs to prepare our special dishes on some special days to pamper you and relish the taste. Finally, your comfort and safety are at the forefront in our treks, particularly at high altitude. Our leaders have comprehensive first aid training and equipment. From Kathmandu: Gokyo Valley 15-Day Trek With Accommodation

10. From Kathmandu: Gokyo Valley 15-Day Trek With Accommodation

Gokyo Valley Trek is a fine alternative to the Everest Base Camp Trek which climbs the valley to the west of Everest to the village of Gokyo and five sacred lakes on the moraine beside the Ngozumpa Glacier. This two week spectacular climb almost as high as the Everest Base Camp Trek offers similarly jaw dropping Everest views, but the trails are less crowded and quieter with traditional Sherpa villages serving local meals to legions of hungry trekkers. The trail follows the Dudhkoshi River to its source – a series of emerald green lakes. Gokyo is a Sherpa village that lies besides the largest of these lakes. From Gokyo we climb to Gokyo Ri (5360m) for a heart stopping view over Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Makalu, Cholatse and Taboche. As Everest Base Camp Trek has Kala Patthar at an elevation of 5545m , Gokyo Valley Trek has Gokyo Ri at an elevation of 5360m on the north side of Dudh Pokhari which is an epic vantage point , offering the kind of view over Everest that is normally reserved for balloonists or mountaineers. In this trek as well, we fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and start our trek onwards to Namche Bazaar (3,440m), the trading center of Khumbu Region. We take a days rest for acclimatization in Namche. From Namche Bazaar, 3 days trek will take us to Gokyo, where we take another day of rest for acclimatization and exploring around. The next day we climb Gokyo Ri (5360m) for the superb views of Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse and Taboche, with the Ngozumpa Glacier cutting across in front like a massive tear in the landscape. We then walk downhill to Gokyo (4750m). The Gokyo Valley Trek is specially designed for those who prefer a less crowded trail with only basic lodge facilities and in this trail one will miss out most of the famous monasteries of Khumbu region. Day 1 Arrival KATHMANDU (1300m/4265ft) Day 2 Acclimatize KATHMANDU- City Tour Day 3 Fly to LUKLA (2800m/9187ft); trek to PHAKDING (2610m/8563 ft)- 4 Hrs trek; 200m descent, 50m ascent Day 4 Trek to NAMCHE (3420m/11221ft) 5-6 hours/1000m ascent, 100m descent-7 Hrs Day 5 Acclimatize at NAMCHE Day 6 Trek to PHORTSE THENGA (3680m/12074ft ) -6 hours Day 7 Trek to MACHHERMO (4410m/14469ft)- 6 hours Day 8 Trek to GOKYO (4750m/15585ft)- 7 hours Day 9 Explore Around GOKYO Day 10 Trek to GOKYO RI (5360m/17586ft) & Back to GOKYO -6 hours Day 11 Trek to DOLE (4090m/13419ft)- 6 hours Day 12 Trek to NAMCHE via KHUMJUNG- 5 hours Day 13 Trek to LUKLA – 6 hours Day 14 Fly back KATHMANDU Day 15 Fly back HOME or extend your HOLIDAYS

What people are saying about Lukla

The whole trip was amazing. Though we had to add three additional days of hiking as because of bad weather there were no flights to Lukla, we enjoyed it a lot. It was a little bit intense at the beginning as we wanted to get to the original plan asap, but we were glad for it in the end as we were able to see the more authentic side of Nepal. Later we continued on the trail as it was planned and successfully made it to both EBC and Kala Patthar. Our guide always took care of us and managed everything we needed and wanted with no problem. It was very comfortable to have a guide who can arrange everything as it was the first time we were in Nepal and to be honest, it can be a little bit chaotic for Europeans :)) Also, he managed us our porter and sometimes helped me with some my stuff himself <3 Hari, the organiser, was there for us all the time as well and ready to help and manage anything we needed. Back in Kathmandu we also had a nice little party. I can only recommend this trip!

I did the Everest Base Camp Trek in Feb 2023 and had an incredible time. The team at Outshine Adventures were superb in providing timely information, accommodation and ensuring I had the proper gear before the trek. They were also kind enough to help me retrieve my luggage from the airport which was delayed upon arrival in Nepal. The Outshine team provided a fantastic day tour of Kathmandu prior to the trek, where I was able to learn more about the culture and city with a very experienced guide, making the beginning of this trip that much more exciting. The trek itself was unbelievably stunning and was both a humbling and an amazing experience. My guide, Dillisher Katuwal was truly world class in both his experience of the mountains as well as ensuring I was safe each step of the way. Trekking with him was incredibly enjoyable and rewarding. For anyone considering any form of adventure to Nepal, I would highly recommend this company as well as Dillisher Katuwal as your guide.

The tour was well organized by Hari. Unfortunately there were no flights to Lukla due to bad weather. Therefore, a jeep was quickly organized to take us to Phaplu. So you could really see a lot of the landscape! From there it should then go on foot to Lukla in 2 days. We weren't prepared for the (unplanned) part of the tour and unfortunately overstretched ourselves. There was also a minor knee injury. So we decided to split the group up and got a new guide the next morning for free. Due to the injury, we only hiked as far as Lukla. Since there were no more flights to Ramecchap or Kathmandu in Lukla, Hari organized a helicopter for us. That too was a great experience! A few extra days in the hotel came on top of that! All in all very well organized and can only be recommended. Hari really makes everything possible for his guests!!:)

I had a great adventure in which I always felt safe. The organization ran smoothly and flexibly. My needs were addressed and interaction with my guide was excellent interpersonal. Any time.

Outshine is good company they prepare everything very well :)
