Full description

A visit to Lugano may not be defined as such if you don't include Gandria, a romantic and picturesque place. In this magic and incredibly charming location, take a dive into the past and discover how people used to live once upon a time. In the company of a guide, walk to Gandria and while you leisurely stroll up and down the village streets, a boat will be waiting for you to bring you back to Lugano. Gandria is a romantic locality nestled on the shores of Lake Ceresio that may be reached either by land or by the lake. The town’s center is closed to traffic and is an oasis of peace with its picturesque tiny streets and stairs that offer glimpses of great views and gorgeous landscapes. At the center of the town see the 16th-century church of San Vigilio with its outstanding baroque interior and the high late-medieval belfry. On the lake opposite Gandria, discover the Museum of Swiss Customs. Along the trail from Cantine di Gandria to Caprino, there are several grotti, an ideal place to take shelter from the heat and to have the opportunity of getting a taste of the typical Ticinese cuisine (costs not included).

Thank you for a wonderful trip to our lovely guide, Mr Jaime. I am very glad I was so inspired to book this tour on our first day in Lugano, and Mr Jaime was our first point of contact with the beauties of this city. Mr Jaime was kind enough to offer a bilingual experience. That was very well received by my parents, who looked forward to the Italian version, and I think the bilingual option also gives the elderly people in the group a bit more time to rest, and to an admirer of languages such as myself, an extended piece of melody to listen to. I loved everything about this tour. Best wishes, Ana-Maria

It was a good tour, guide was very informative. The only issue was that we were told it would be in English but it was in German as well. Found it took longer that way. Also had to wait 3 hours before getting access to a toilet. Not a great route in that t sense as it was very hot so was drinking alot of water. Had to rush lunch to get the return boat as time was limited.

It was a nice day with clear skies to do some hiking. The guide was professional and explained the history of Gandria and the culture in different languages to cater to everyone in the group. Tip: make sure to wear comfortable shoes, and for this time of the year take a light jacket with you. We started at late morning ( 10am) and it was still a little bit chilly.
