What people are saying about Luang Prabang

We had a wonderful day and would recommend it to everyone. We were picked up punctually at our hotel. Then we went to Somsay's home, where we were warmly welcomed by his family. Somsay speaks very good English and taught us about the relevance of bamboo in Laotian culture. You can tell that it is also very close to his personal heart and he shared some beautiful stories from his childhood with us. It gives you a wonderful insight into local life. Afterwards, we were able to have our own experience with a master weaver. We laughed a lot with him and not only because of the offered Lao Whiskey. We were surprised how diverse bamboo can be used in the kitchen at the cooking class with Somsay‘s wife! The tasty lunch was rounded off with traditional music. Afterwards, a transport to the Kuang Si waterfalls was organised, where we could spend as much time as we wanted. Most beautiful waterfalls and not too cold to jump into the water. From there we went back to the hotel. Very well organised.

We really enjoyed it and would recommend this to friends and strangers alike. Somsay picked us up from our guesthouse promptly as indicated on the tour details and he spoke very good English! After a short drive we arrived at his home where his mother and wife welcomed us. The bamboo experience is housed in a collection of covered terraces staying cool in the day's heat. Somsay started the tour by telling us about his personal connection with bamboo as a boy expanding to the various species of bamboo, their uses - very interesting. This was followed by a class with a master weaver. Lots of laughs trying to keep track of the pattern while Somsay gave us Banana infused Lao whiskey. Cooking class with Somsay's wife was great and the results delicious! Traditional Khene demonstration was excellent! Kuang Si waterfall was the most beautiful we've seen yet and Somsay sets everything up to make spending time at the waterfall and getting back to our accommodation super convenient!

This was a fabulous day. We started off with a short class on bamboo, then moved into another class with a master weaver where we prepared the bamboo and then learned how to weave a simple piece. We each created a simple bamboo woven creation to take home. Then we had a very nice cooking class and we ate the delicious food we made. Finally it was off to Kwang Si Falls, which are spectacular. Our host was knowledgeable and fun. We give this tour our highest recommendation.

Discovery of bamboo under different aspects The guide who is the host of the house is very nice and gives a lot of details. His family and friends are very friendly. We entered the Laotian culture and daily life and that's really what we liked. We recommend

Had a fantastic time on this cruise, and especially at the hotpot dinner after! The food was delicious, and it was great having a local with us to show us how it's done and tell us about the Laotian culture. Would recommend
