Lomba de São Pedro: Waterfall Hiking Tour with Tea Tasting

2. Lomba de São Pedro: Waterfall Hiking Tour with Tea Tasting

Savor a hiking trip through nature on Lomba de São Pedro’s Moinho do Félix Waterfalls Trail. Listen to cascading rivers and waterfalls and encounter historical structures. Tour a working tea farm where you'll be able to sample their products.  Enjoy coastal views at the start of the hike. Descend to the Cascata do Homem waterfall before an uphill hike through the forest. The trail weaves through the trees before reaching the Moinho do Félix watermill at the base of Cascata do Teófilo. Find some peace and quiet walking to the Cascata da Gruta. This waterfall also features a natural pool called Poço da Truta. From there, head back to the village and pass by many of the springs which once supplied the residents with water. From the village, ride out to the family-run Chá Gorreana Tea Factory and Plantation. It is both the oldest and only such facility in Europe. Discover the whole process that brings tea from the plantation to your cup then taste it for yourself. End the tour with a stop at one of the beaches along the Northern Coast. Relax and enjoy the distinctly dark sands of the island. Listen to the ocean waves crash nearby before returning to your hotel.

From start to finish, the experience was so much fun! You will start by gearing up into a wetsuit and harness and then head off for a 30 minute hike to reach the waterfalls. Though the wetsuit is a bit heavy for the hike, it helps a lot as it protects you from the vegetation and allows you to slide on your bottom if you prefer for any steep parts. Over the course of the next few hours, it’s a mix of jumps, rappels and walking through the river. The vegetation is stunning and you feel like you are in an oasis. We always felt safe and at ease to go at our own pace and choose which way we felt most comfortable going down. They also take pictures and video of you so you can just enjoy the experience. The guides were fantastic and really nice and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend if you are up for an adventure and some thrills!

Great way to get up close and truly into nature. Challenging and fun high jumps from cliffs into natural pools under waterfalls and good opportunities to abseil down if the jumps are too high. We jumped, abseiled, slid, hiked down through the most beautiful gorge

The hike there and back is TOUGH. However, the rest of the activity was a blast! Such an amazing adventure.

Amazing experience with highly professional guides, and friendly atmosphere

Great guides and the canyon is stunningly beautiful.
