From Ljubljana: Half-Day Lake Bled Tour

1. From Ljubljana: Half-Day Lake Bled Tour

Begin your half-day tour in the morning with a pickup from your centrally located Ljubljana hotel. Then, sitting comfortably in an air-conditioned minivan, depart for the beautiful Lake Bled, nestled amid the Julian Alps on the edge of Triglav National Park. During the drive, gaze out at rural Slovenia and listen to your guide’s commentary about the glacier-formed lake. On arrival, you can spend a few moments drinking in views of the picturesque lake, backed by towering mountains, and the fairy-tale steeple of the Church of the Assumption of Mary on Bled Island, there is a tiny rock islet in the center of the lake. Climb aboard a two-oared wooden boat and relax during the short boat ride to the island. Here, you will have around 30 minutes to explore, perhaps visiting the church or sampling potica, a traditional Slovenian cake, at the cafe.  Next, you will travel to Bled Castle, a medieval stronghold perched atop a sheer cliff overlooking the water. Listen to a brief introduction of the castle’s history from your guide, and then make the most of free time to visit the museum and absorb the bird’s-eye views of Lake Bled. The tour will finish with some time spent at the stunning lakeside. Perhaps enjoy a stroll along the lake, snap photos of the swan, or recharge with a kremšnita (vanilla cream cake) and coffee. You will then be dropped off back at your hotel in Ljubljana.

3. From Ljubljana: Half-Day Private Trip to Lake Bled

Bled is often mentioned as the pearl of the Slovenian Alpine region with its emerald-green waters, picture perfect postcard church on the island, a medieval castle on the rocky cliff and some of the highest peaks of the Slovenian Alps in the background. Lake Bled is a place you should not miss. Take a short walk along the lake shore as you witness the beauty of the surrounding mountains reflecting on the lake surface. Throughout the seasons, you will enjoy the peace of the lake and fresh air. Perched atop a steep cliff more than 100 meters above the lake, Bled Castle is how most people imagine a medieval fortress to be, with towers, ramparts, moats and a terrace offering magnificent views. The castle houses a unique treasure - a reconstructed Gutenberg's wooden printing press on which the master printer will demonstrate old printing techniques using handmade paper. Take the pletna boat to the lake island from the shore. The tiny, tear-shaped island beckons from the shore and the ride with the pletna boat will be a real thrill. Upon returning from the island, you will probably be tired. Stop at the local patisserie and taste Bled’s famous cream cake – kremšnita. Since the last 60 years, this patisserie has sold as many as 12 million cream cakes.

Nina our guide and driver was excellent - she was extremely knowledgeable, ran a great tour and we had plenty of our own time explore. We previously booked a different tour as we were worried about getting back in time for a flight and the company offered us this longer tour where we saw a lot more, and then dropped us to the airport on the way back which was extremely kind. All in all super helpful, great company and Nina made it a great day - so much to see, highly recommend.

This half day excursion provided excellent value for money. It included all the highlights of Lake Bled but was conducted at a well judged pace so that it never felt rushed. Our guide was outstanding. His local knowledge, delivered in a lively and interesting manner, was excellent and he was able to answer any questions posed by the group ensuring that everyone felt included. A well organised and very enjoyable trip to a stunning location.

Nina was a very knowledgeable and fun guide! The tour left enough time for us to explore the island, castle and promenade by ourselves, perfect foto ops and nice recommendations for food. We were so lucky to go between Christmas and New Year's, so we caught some Christmas Markets and special events as well. Can wholeheartedly recommend!

This tour is perfect if you don't have time for a full day excursion and still want to explore the sights outside of Ljubljana. The guide was really nice, and all the sights were lovely and well time. Definitely recommend it!

All are perfect!!

Our private guide Tanja is very nice and professional. She tells us a lot of things about Croatia and Slovenia. We have a wonderful one day trip to Slovenia~~
