Full description
Spend a full day touring Sintra and admiring some of the most spectacular of Portugal’s castles. Stop at the Moorish Castle with its original sections dating from the 8th and 9th centuries, and enjoy fantastic views of the region. Visit the Pena Palace and admire the mix of architectural styles of its exterior and interior. The Pena Palace is one of the best examples of Romanticism in the 19th century. Next you’ll visit the historic town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Sintra National Palace is located in the center of town, and for that reason it is known as the Town Palace. The 2 massive chimneys that protrude from the kitchens have become emblematic of Sintra. Inside, you’ll tour the ostentatiously decorated rooms of the best preserved medieval royal palace in Portugal and the favorite of Portuguese nobility. Quinta da Regaleira, located in the historic center, was built in the early 20th century in the middle of a dense forest, surrounded by gardens, lakes, grottoes, and enigmatic constructions. It is the result of the Romantic, Gothic, Renaissance, and Manueline ideals and of the magical and mythical visions of its owner.

Everything done well. On guide's advice we started the tour with an early pick-up at our hotel to beat crowds. Our driver/guide Jose tailored our tour to our interests. He was informative about the history of each Sintra site we visited, brought us to an excellent Portuguese restaurant away from the crowds, and showed us good shops. Great fun and an easy way to see Sintra.

We arrived by cruise and only had 7.5 hours to spend in Lisbon. We had to act quick and Jose helped us alot! Jose is an incredibly excellent guide - he's fast, punctual, smart, funny, and attentive! He took us to Pena Palace first and we avoided the long lines, then in 7 hours we were able to visit Pena Palace, Sintra National Palace, Quinta da Regeleira and Palácio Nacional e Jardins de Queluz. Plus, we had time to sit down for Portugese pastries 2 times one in Sintra and another in Belem! Plus, Jose took us to a place overlooking the city and harbor and we took lots of awesome pictures. All the ending attractions were add ons because we finished 2 hours early and Jose wanted us to see more. He did more than he was supposed to and we appreciated it. So if you walk faster and look faster you would be able to see that many places like us - with the help of Jose of course! His car was clean and comfortable and we had a nice time. Will definitely recommend this tour to anyone.

A great full day excursion for eight to Sintra that took in the Moorish castle, the Pena Palace, the National Palace, and the Quinta de Regaleira. It also included time for a nice lunch in Sintra village. We all recommend our tour guide Manuel very highly. He was very knowledgeable and shepherded us to our destinations with no trouble.
