Full description
Tour the rich sights of the UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape of Sintra. Besides the Royal Palace, Sintra Village, and forests of Parque Natural Sintra-Cascais', you'll enjoy authentic Sintra pastry, and Cabo da Roca's spectacular coastal view. Experience an unforgettable afternoon as you head north from Lisbon to the UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape of Sintra. Admire the Royal Palace, the best preserved medieval palace in Portugal. Located in Sintra Village itself, the Royal Palace was inhabited continuously from the 15th century through the late 19th century, and was the summer playground of Portuguese royalty. You'll quickly identify the palace's hallmark conical chimneys, and appreciate the rich collection of azulejos, or glazed tiles. As with the rest of Portugal, Sintra takes its sweets very seriously. Follow the crowd up a narrow nearby street to Piriquita. Since 1862, this popular confectioner and café has served up sumptuous cakes and pastries. The feast of the senses continues as we pass through the lush gardens of Parque Natural Sintra-Cascais, making our way to Cabo da Roca (from 1st March to 31st October), the westernmost point in continental Europe. Then soak in ocean sights as we journey along the coast, passing Guincho Beach, a windsurfing favorite, and Boca do Inferno, a natural grotto created by the sea. Upon reaching Cascais, you'll enjoy the panoramic view overlooking the bay. Then we'll return through Estoril, 'the Protuguese Riviera', with Europe's largest casino and its beautiful gardens.

Half Day Trip to Sintra, Cascais, Cabo da Roca from Lisbon

Highly recommend if you have only a few hours to spare on your trip to Lisbon! Marisa, our guide was extraordinary and the trip was amazing. Though a bus tour, our group was a comfortable size and not overwhelming at all. Sintra was breathtaking. We visited Palacio Nacional de Sintra, the only extant medieval palace in Portugal. The drive through Sintra was stunning, and the vistas along the coastline were spectacular. We visited Boca do Inferno, Cabo da Roca (westernmost point in Europe), and the lovely seaside resort of Cascais. The experience I gained on this tour was an key reason I booked my return trip back to Portugal within 6 weeks of returning home! HIGHLY recommend this tour and returning to spend more time in stunning Sintra and Cascais!

Overall a very enlightened tour guide who showed a sound knowledge of the Sintra area. The actual tour was advertised as five hours, 2.30-7.30pm. Unfortunately we were virtually 'dumped' in Cascais township for the last half hour for no particular reason. The shops were closed and nothing to do and as a result arrived back in Lison around 8.00pm. The guide had no answer to our querying this stop but to say that 'they' are directed to make the stop. All customers on the bus were somewhat annoyed.

Anna our tour guide for the day was amazing! I speak 3 out of the 4 languages she gave the tour in and her language skills are phenomenal! She was very helpful and informative. Wish I had more time with her and that I could do a FULL DAY tour. Would highly recommend this tour and tour company to travelers and more importantly Anna the tour guide! Thank you so much.
