Full description
Meet your guide and listen to an introduction about the history of the city. Then start your tour by passing by the famous Rossio train station, the Sao Domingos Church, the Lisbon Jewish Memorial, and the Queen Maria II National Theater. Continue along the pedestrianized avenue Rua Augusta to arrive at the Santa Justa Elevator. Learn about the construction of this famous landmark. You’ll then arrive at the first viewpoint, the Elevador Castelo, from where you can admire an impressive view of the Tagus River and the downtown area. Next, head to the famous Sao Jorge Castle to enjoy some free time and take pictures. Continue to the Portas do Sol viewpoint. Marvel at the superb views of the river, the terracotta roofs of the city, and the historical Tram 28. Pass by the Santa Luzia lookout before arriving at the Lisbon Cathedral. Your guide will take you on a tour through the monument, which dates back to the 12th century. Afterwards, take a break in a local taverna to try a local pastry and the Ginjinha liqueur. Stroll through the narrow streets of the Jewish district, before passing by the Fado Museum and hearing all about this typical local music. Finally, stroll past the Chafariz d’El-Rei fountains on your way to the final stop, Commerce Square.

This was yet another wonderful experience. Since we requested an English speaking tour we ended up having our own private guide with Sofia who was just so pleasant and very knowledgeable of the Alfama zone and Lisbon. The stops along the way to taste Ginginha and Beirao along with their Pastel de Nata was delightful. Beautiful to see the architecture and landmarks still in existence. Be prepared to do a lot of walking. I highly recommend this tour.

We did this tour in the afternoon on the day we arrived in Lisbon. It was a great tour with a wonderful guide named Isabel. She was very knowledgeable and really tailored the tour to our interests. One member of our party had mobility issues and she was very kind in assisting him.

Alexandre is an excellent guide who has great knowledge of history and with whom it is a pleasure to take a tour in the Alfama.I recommend him for a tour in French because he was born in France and knows our country perfectly and in has preserved the Laurence culture
