Currently visiting Krakow from the States and I’ve always found old cars fascinating. We have seen a couple Polonez in the past week, but no Lada. I reached out on Reddit for help, and I was suggested go check out Nowa Huts while visiting Krakow. After hearing this, I googled a bit about the town and Ladas. I found this tour being offered in old vintage cars, like baby Fiats but also including Ladas. It was a really cool tour and the guide picked us up and dropped us off in downtown Krakow. While we were there we even DID see a vintage Lada parked on the side of the street, a more recent model from toward the end of communism. The guide was super cool too, a Polish gentleman who had studied Russian history. With Poland’s increasing economic success coupled with their distaste for communism and it’s symbols, this is probably the closest to “Old, communist Poland” you’re going to get.

My guide was very knowledgeable and, more importantly, very eager to share his knowledge. I learned a lot and got to visit some very interesting sites. I loved seeing the abandoned steelworks building and the bunker. Very creepy and atmospheric! This was a great tour and I highly recommend. (Also you get to ride around in a classic Polish Fiat car which will get you lots of attention from passerby—very funny!)

Amazing we had a great experience, from the communication with the guide, the pick up in the vintage car, access to buildings and rooms in Howa Huta iitself, the church, the stories…. Highly recommend
