The whole experience was great! I booked the SUP boarding at home before we travelled, unaware of any bus timetables or locations. We had originally booked the afternoon slot at 1pm, due to not knowing about the transport. I got a message from Socrates asking if we would like to change to the morning due to the winds. I explained that we haven’t arrived in Crete yet and that we don’t know the buses etc. Socrates was very understating, he provided us with a timetable and told us to wait till we got there and we could decide the day before the excursion as to whether we wanted the morning. The night before he called to say that rather than getting up so early, he had cancelled his 7.50 and the 1pm and we could go at 10am instead, this was a huge relief as we had children with us who don’t like to move in the mornings. So, we got the bus and he met us at the bus stop, so we didn’t get lost. We were running a few minutes late, but he was so laid back, extremely lovely and very informative!

'This is going to be the best experience of your vacation' This is what Socrates said when we first met. That's easy to say, of course, but let's experience it first. WOW!!! That wasn't a lie. What an experience this was. Everything had been thought of: good quality sups, water shoes, water, drybags, small snack, photos and videos (which we all received that same day) About Socrates himself: what a nice, calm, funny man with a lot of knowledge about Crete, supping and the island of Lazaretta. He goes for small-scale quality and safety of the guests. Where you normally see that a group activity is canceled with 'only' 2 people, this became a private tour for us. We would grant everyone this experience! A review cannot describe enough how cool this was.

Unfortunately the weather was too windy to paddle, so Socrates spontaneously asked us to change the activity to a trip to an island, where we had the chance to snorkle. It was a great alternative and we had lots of fun. Socrates is really a kind, cheerful and courteous person, who also knows a lot about the history of the island. We had a really good time with him.

We had a private trip for 16. Manos and Sophia were excellent hosts and looked after us throughout the 5 hours. The boat was perfect as a base to snorkel from, dive and jump into the sea. We all rated our day with the Ferryman as our favourite of our two weeks in Crete.

This was a great experience! Socrates is very knowledgeable about the island, it’s history and nature. The trip includes paddle boarding, snorkeling, and a little hike to explore the island. A very fun morning! Highly recommended!!
