2. Zakynthos: Half-Day Tour to Turtle Island and Keri Caves

Spend the day at sea on this multi-stop boat tour in Zakynthos. Visit Kalamaki Beach, Laganas, Turtle Island (Marathonisi), and a local olive oil press. Meet the resident turtles, swim near the Keri Caves, and taste olive oil samples.  After hotel pickup, start discovering the highlights of the southern region of Zakynthos. The first stop will be at Kalamaki Beach to learn about the turtle nests in the area. Next, embark on a 3-hour cruise on a glass bottom boat around the beach of Laganas. Stop at the nearby island of Marathonisi, also known as Turtle Island. Admire its beautiful caves and white sand beaches, and keep an eye out for the Caretta turtles who inhabit the surrounding waters. Continue sailing to the Keri Caves, located on the southern coast of Zakynthos. Make a stop for swimming before returning to the port and traveling to the Aristeon Olive Oil Press.  At the press, learn about the long history of olive oil production on the island and taste some samples before returning to your hotel.

After a convenient pickup from your hotel, head to Kalamaki beach on Zante's southern shores. Enjoy the pristine beach with soft sand and warm waters, protected by National Marine Park. See where the endangered loggerhead sea turtles nest. Next, head to Laganas beach to board the glass-bottom boat. Sail to the Keri Caves, carved by time, tides, and wind. Follow the coastline, admiring the white beaches, rock arches, forested hills, and enormous limestone cliffs that fall into the sea. Pass through the famous rock arch, Kamara.  Stop for a 20-minute swim just outside the entrance to a vast cave. Climb back on board to head to Marathonisi Island, an exotic, green, and coincidentally turtle-shaped island. Enjoy an hour on the golden sandy beach where you can swim and snorkel. Head back and pass the famous Cameo island bridge. Enjoy the idyllic views of secluded beaches surrounded by steep white limestone. Enjoy a final stop at the award-winning Aristeon ecological olive oil press museum in Lithakia. Explore the history of olive oil making on the island with experts.  Enjoy free tasters of local olives and traditional bread with different flavored extra virgin olive oils (most likely lemon, orange, and garlic). Take a sample of olive oil shampoo, soap, body cream, or face cream. You can also buy these products to support local businesses.

Discover the underwater world of Zakynthos Marine Park on a glass-bottom boat trip in Laganas Bay. See loggerhead sea turtles (caretta caretta) in their natural environment, and make stops to swim in crystal-clear waters. Head to the meeting point to board the glass-bottom boat. Then, set off over Laganas Bay, viewing the world beneath the water's surface through the transparent floor of the boat. During the boat trip, feel free to relax on the sundeck or in the shaded seating area. Stop near the Keri Caves for a refreshing dip in the sea, then continue to Turtle Island to discover the large cave and enjoy another chance to swim. Next, make your way to Marathonissi. Stop on the islet's sandy beach, and buy a drink, snack, or ice cream. Cool off in the sea again before returning to the starting point in Laganas.

5. Laganas: Off-Road Buggy Adventure in Zakynthos with Lunch

The tour begins in the morning at the starting point. All equipment and gear is provided by us. Following a briefing by your tour guide you will set off at 10:00. 20' into the tour, the off-road fun begins. The first stop is at idyllic Marathias to take photos of Turtle island. Then a drive through the dense forest of Marathias will lead you to the breathtaking Mizithres viewpoint. Continuing the tour you will find yourself in the vineyards of Agalas at Andronios Wells. 11 in total! Feeling hot? The next stop is at the ruggedly magnificent Korakonisi for 1.5hrs of swimming, snorkelling or relaxing. After a cool dip, you are bound to be hungry. A private traditional Greek lunch is served at an old farmhouse under the shade of trees in Loucha, one of the oldest but by far the prettiest villages in Zante. Plenty of food and unlimited soft drinks are available. After lunch, the final stretch of the tour begins, with a drive through the Loucha Valley. The group returns back to the original starting point at approximately 16:00. After 85km of driving, and 80% of it off-road, you will be full of dust and unforgettable memories to last a lifetime.

Move onward to Agalas, nestled among pine trees and olive groves. Witness its colored buildings and the large bell tower of the village's church. Navigate the rocky 150-meter path to Damiano's cave. This 2-story structure is filled with awe-inspiring stalactites and stalagmites. Enjoy the view of the lush hills and the sea from the cave. On the opposite side of the cave, see the 12 wells of Agalas village. Hear the local legend of Andronios, the 300-meter-tall dragon who is said to have made the wells. Make a stop near Damiano's cave at one of the stone-built rest areas to enjoy the glorious sunset. Soak in the stunning surroundings and romantic atmosphere from this location.

Meet your tour group at 9:00 AM and take the bus to the northern part of the island. Travel to Porto Vromi, where you board the boat and sail to discover some of Zakynthos’ most beautiful coastal locations. See the shipwreck of the MV Panagiotis, a container ship that sank in 1980. Plenty of time for photos! Afterward, visit the paradise beach for a short swim. Next, head to Porto Steniti, where you’ll have the opportunity to swim again. From the boat, jump in the water and explore the caves. Start the journey to Porto Vromi. Along the way, stop at the Profile of Poseidon rock for photos. The trip will end at approximately 3.00 PM. At the end of the tour, be transferred back to the original meeting point.

Your local guide-driver of the day will begin by giving you a free map of Zakynthos before briefing you on your unique tour that lies ahead. On our way, you will enjoy the views of the olive groves, vineyards, the diversity of the landscape, the rugged but verdant mountains, the traditional village houses, the old churches, and the stunning panoramic views of the Ionian sea waters, the south coast as well as the southwest coast, until we arrive in our next stop. The first stop is Cameo island. The tiny little islet is known as the wedding island. What an amazing and perfect location for intimate wedding ceremonies. Then we will head to Keri village which combines mountains and sea. The main settlement is located in a mountainous area and the seaside is one of the island's most popular resorts. In ancient times there was a port at Keri, Herodotus described the tar springs near Keri Lake, which seemed to be more like a State. Amongst the pine trees and olive groves lies the picturesque village of Agalas, our next destination, with its colored buildings and the large bell tower of the village's church. The 150 m. path to Damiano's cave is loose and rocky, it is two-storied and filled with awe-inspiring stalactites and stalagmites, the view from the cave is magnificent, the hills are thick with vegetation and the sea extends into the background. On the opposite side of Damianos Cave, we can see twelve wells of Agalas, known as the Adronios wells. Our knowledgeable guide will inform you with insightful details about the Legend of the Dragon. Near Damiano's cave, we stop at one of the stone-built rest areas to enjoy the romantic, glorious sunset. Simply, unbelievable beautiful location, breathtaking views, great atmosphere and very romantic. This tour was excellent! The guide takes you all over the southern part of the island passing olive groves and wineries as well as stopping at many beautiful viewpoint and a place to swim in clear blue water along the cliffs! You enjoy a lovely homemade meal in the hills before heading back to the starting point!

Nikos was really friendly and knowledgeable about all the locations. He picked us up on time, he gave detailed information on all the stops and we had plenty of time to explore and take pictures. The sunset spot at the end of the tour was fantastic. I would happily book the tour again.

Very simple tour. Get to check out the cave and then you get taken to a beautiful lookout for the sunset. Nice establishment right there for wine beer or other alcohol and snacks as well. Spent it there with my wife and was very romantic and sweet. We enjoyed it very much
