Zakynthos: Island Day Trip with Turtles, Swimming, and Caves

1. Zakynthos: Island Day Trip with Turtles, Swimming, and Caves

t After a convenient pickup from your hotel, head to Kalamaki beach on Zante's southern shores. Enjoy the pristine beach with soft sand and warm waters, protected by National Marine Park. See where the endangered loggerhead sea turtles nest. You may spot tiny baby turtles breaking out of their shells. Next, head to Laganas beach to board the glass-bottom boat. Sail to the Keri Caves, carved by time, tides, and wind. Follow the coastline, admiring the white beaches, rock arches, forested hills, and enormous limestone cliffs that fall into the sea. Pass through the famous rock arch, Kamara.  Stop for a 20-minute swim just outside the entrance to a vast cave. Climb back on board to head to Marathonisi, known as Turtle Island, an exotic, green, and coincidentally turtle-shaped island. Enjoy an hour on the golden sandy beach where you can swim and snorkel. Head back and pass the famous Cameo island bridge. Enjoy the idyllic views of secluded beaches surrounded by steep white limestone. Enjoy a final stop at the award-winning Aristeon ecological olive oil press museum in Lithakia. Explore the history of olive oil making on the island with experts.  Enjoy free tasters of local olives and traditional bread with different flavored extra virgin olive oils (most likely lemon, orange, and garlic). Take a sample of olive oil shampoo, soap, body cream, or face cream. You can also buy these products to support local businesses.

What people are saying about Laganas Beach

Nice tour with nice extras. I had actually only read the description and did not expect that there was a piece of "spotting turtles" and a visit to an olive oil press. The tour consists of a van ride along a turtle beach and a boat trip. By the way, booking the tour with GetYourGuide went quickly and smoothly. Since I almost literally booked the tour last minute, this was very pleasant. The only thing I can recommend to the tour organizer is to provide a bottle of water on the way. Despite that still a 10/10.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Dali tours. We booked spontaneously and due to low participation, we were asked to reschedule. Since we were leaving the next day it wasn’t possible and Dali did the tour anyways. Our driver was fantastic and we enjoyed the small semi-private tour on the boat, where we saw two loggerheads and got to swim/snorkel while enjoying the beach as well. We enjoyed our visit to the olive press museum and brought a few bottles home with us. All in all the experience deserves 5 stars.

Absolutely love it! Unforgettable experience. Definitely would recommend. Saw a turtle within the first 10 minutes. Had a lovely swim by the caves (remember to take your own snorkelling gear). Then went to Turtle Island - which was a bit busy but the rest of the experience made up for it. Lastly, went to see how they made olive oil. The testers were delicious! You are also able to purchase many olive oil based products. Our guides were so happy, cheerful and helpful. Such lovely people! 10/10 experience!

A very beautiful experience that you will never forget! Also a lot is told about the history of the turtles of Zakynthos and fun facts about the turtles! The staff are so nice and friendly and they really want you to have a good time !

Beautiful Island, Beautiful Beaches and Gorgeous Water! We feel in love with this beautiful area.
