Full description
This personalized trip to the Jasna Góra Monastery includes picking you up from a prior determined location in a comfortable, air-conditioned car. Your English-speaking driver will drive you directly to the monastery and take you to meet your guide, who will tell you the history of the place on a 1.5-hour guided tour.
The Jasna Góra Monastery is the biggest and most popular shrine to the Virgin Mary and is visited by nearly 4 million tourists from around the world every year. It is known as the Black Madonna of Częstochowa or Our Lady of Częstochowa. The icon was created in about 66 A.D. and it has been in the Jasna Góra Monastery since 1382.
The sanctuary is mostly recognized for being a place of worship but is also a place with a really interesting history. It was established in the 14th-century and was steadily expanded since then. It soon became a military fortress, which effectively defended Częstochowa’s treasures and Polish kings. After the tour is finished, the driver will take you back to your hotel or other pre-arranged location.
