Full description
First, travel by minivan for 1 hour and 20 minutes before you arrive at the camp. Founded on 27 April 1940, Auschwitz became the site of extermination by inhumane conditions and physical destruction of prisoners. It was the biggest death camp of the Nazi regime and during your tour a licensed guide will sensitively take you to see the barbed wire fences, watchtowers, barracks, gallows and gas chambers; these depict the circumstances under which the Nazi genocide took place. Spend 2 hours here with a short 20 minute break.  You will also visit Birkenau, a short 5-minute drive from Auschwitz. Birkenau comprised of more than 300 buildings, including latrines, watchtowers and gas chambers. Although a challenge, it’s important to remember these events to make sure that this history is never repeated. Spend approximately 1.5 hours here before the 1 hour 20 minute drive back to Krakow.

The tour is good but at the beginning we did not find the guide and we had to ask for help. Something that they do not mention in the tour is what to eat before visiting because even if you carry food in a backpack, you cannot pass it. And when you leave the last groups the cafeteria is closed.

Very well organized, no extra money to pay on site Excellent driver, very friendly and on time. We were 7 people in the minivan, trip from Krakow was less than 1h30 min. The driver picked us up at our hotel. Since we were a bit in advance, we visited one train rail outside the camp. Then, he left us in front of the first camp to start the visit with a guide. After the first visit, small break to eat and we took again the van to go to the second camp, where we found again the same guide from the first camp. At the end of the visit, back to Krakow.

- We were notified of our pick up time the day before and we were picked up on time. - Comfortable vehicle for journey. - 10 minute comfort break before the tour of the first camp. - Given receiver and headphones to ensure we could hear our guide. - Great guide. - Another 10 minute comfort break before travelling to the second camp. - Tour with the same guide. This trip is a must do when visiting Krakow. There was a lot to take in on the visit and the tour was very respectfully done. We were told to bring a packed lunch but weren't given time to eat it. This was probably for the best as we didn't have much of an appetite after what we had seen.
