Full description
Depart from the port of Kardamena in Kos and take a 1-hour cruise to the volcanic island of Nisyros. Upon arrival, transfer to a waiting bus that will take you on a short drive to the volcano. Listen to your informative guide along the way, and get information about the volcano and the history of the island. Then, feel the force of the lava rumbling deep beneath your feet as you enter the volcanic crater. See the bubbling mud pools and steam geysers, and imagine that you have landed on the moon! Return to the port and get the chance to wander around the town of Mandraki. After a short walk through the narrow streets of blue and white painted houses, visit the monastery of Panagia Spiliani, considered one of the most beautiful monasteries of the Greek Islands. Prior to the start of the excursion, the guide kindly sent out messages (approx. 12 hours before the start time) where to pick us up. Easy to communicate and coordinate. Located at Natura Park Village, we had to be prepared 1,5h earlier. Starting from Kardamena, we sailed to Nisyros (approx. 1h). Then we took the bus and drove for 20-30m to volcano. We had 45m stop, which was, in my opinion, too short. Next stop was Emporios (a small, cute village), where we had another stop for 40m. Then we packed our stuff and went back onto the bus and ship later. Overall - a great, recommended experience, but there could have been a bit more time in the volcano. Plus the tickets are not included (3€ for volcano).

Well organized, very hard working. However, the guide very quickly changed from Dutch to German, which was also not quite understandable for me, which is probably due to the fact that I come from Vienna, so that it sometimes takes a lot of concentration to find out which language it is now. But overall very hard.

A really great tour! You get enough time to move freely on the volcanic crater, then visit a quiet mountain village and at the end you have a lot of time to look at the beautiful city of Mandraki! There you have the opportunity to eat in a Greek tavern, which is only recommended, the food is excellent! Mandraki has many beautiful little streets and looks like you would imagine a small Greek town, highly recommended!
