Full description
Enjoy an easy hiking tour of the stunning island of Nisyros. Start your walk at the Port of Mandraki of Nisyros after you arrive by boat from Kos. A short walk will bring you to the entrance to the path, and heads to the abandoned Windmill of Parthenis. Along this path, pass by spectacular viewpoints, old fields and traditional stone buildings surrounded by olive, acorn, prickly pear, fig and terebinth trees. The mill is just on the ridge above the village of Mandraki, an ideal place to rest, take pictures and admire the marvelous panoramic view of the famous Monastery of Panagia Spiliani.  Then, take the main path encircling the village which leads to the castle, the ancient wall of the island. Walk around the castle to discover the thick walls of dark volcanic stones, some of which are over three meters high. This point offers unique panoramic views towards Mandraki. At a short distance from the castle, encounter a different path that leads to the beautiful chapels of Agios Nikolaos. Continue along the coast towards cape Kanoni and Hohlakoi bay, a beach with impressive black pebbles, created by the marine erosion of the submarine lavas. The path ends at the chapel of Agios Nikolaos, which was a tomb that the Nisyrian turned into a chapel. At the end of the hike, board the boat back to Kos.

Very nice, individual hike

We were very satisfied. Also that the taxi issue was dealt with very quickly. Since we do not belong to the younger generation, it was a bit exciting for us to correspond in English and organize the trip to Kadamena. We will recommend you.
