Full description
Luau Kalamaku is an unforgettable experience and a “must see” for any visitor. The twice-weekly extravaganza has welcomed guests since 2007, offering great views from every seat. Following dinner, the cast takes the stage for the 45-minute main show to tell the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamakū (“child of the new land); the epic voyage taken by islanders between Tahiti and Kauaʻi along one of the longest sea roads of Polynesia. Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The evening begins with craft and cultural demonstrations, and Hawaiian games, followed by the traditional imu ceremony. Guests are treated to delicious traditional local cuisine, while hula dancers and musicians entertain. The show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing. The location, staff, and performance were fantastic. The buffet was ok except for the desserts which weren't worth the calories. The open bar seemed to be a big hit although I enjoyed the virgin mai tais the most. Locals told us there were luaus with better food. It was worth going for the luau experience. If I return to the area, I'm likely to try a different place for comparison.

We booked the standard seating area at this luau. The stage for the show is in the middle with the tables surrounding it. Therefore there is no bad seating. The food is buffet style serving the different seating areas as called. There is an open bar and entertainment at all times with the main show starting after dinner.

While looking around for a Luau to go to with my family, I came across this and when comparing it to other sites, this was a no brainer. We got front row seats (I didn't choose them; it might have been random as we were a group of 6) and these prices beat every other site I found. There was an open bar, an all-you-eat buffet, a chance for you to purchase items from a multitude of local craftspeople, and of course, the awesome Luau. This was definitely one of my dad's favorite activities while we were in Kauai. The food wasn't spectacular or anything but it was good. There was also a limited selection of drinks but for an open bar, I don't mind at all. Overall, it was amazing.
