Zrmanja: 5-Hour Canoe or Kayak Trip in Kaštel Žegarski

1. Zrmanja: 5-Hour Canoe or Kayak Trip in Kaštel Žegarski

Zrmanja and Krupa are among the most beautiful rivers in Europe: perfectly clear warm water, a spectacular canyon with magnificent waterfalls. They are easy and safe enough for beginner canoeists but their scenery makes them also very exciting. You will see many fish and birds and explore typical karst phenomenon – living travertine waterfalls. The trip begins in Kastel Zegarski, only one hour drive from Zadar. You will quickly learn how to handle sit-on-top kayaks as you slowly enter the canyon. After the first hour of paddling down easy rapids you will – if time and weather permit – visit beautiful Krupa waterfalls and swim under them. More waterfalls and rapids wait for you as you continue down Zrmanja towards Muskovci where the trip ends. At the end of the trip optionally you can enjoy refreshments at a nearby restaurant or take a picnic on your own. Itinerary: 10:00 AM - Arrival to destination – Kastel Zegarski village 10:30 AM - Preparing for the trip and safety instructions provided by the trip leader 11:00 AM - Trip starts 12:30 PM - Continuing down the river Zrmanja 3:00 PM - Finish at Muskovci village 3:30 PM - Optional refreshments 4:00 PM - Departure

Obrovac: Rafting or Kayaking on the Zrmanja River

2. Obrovac: Rafting or Kayaking on the Zrmanja River

Meet your guide at Mićanovi dvori. The 5-hour activity begins with instruction on how to use your equipment before heading out on a 14.5-kilometer kayaking experience. Depending on pace and physical fitness, the trip can last from 2.5-4 hours. The goal is for everyone to enjoy time in the water to the best of their ability! In the summer, when the water level is low, you’ll head down the river by kayak. The rest of the year, when the water is high, you’ll make your way down the river by raft. Kayaks can seat 2 people and a raft can seat from 6-10 people, including the skipper. You’ll be in a group of 30 people (15 kayaks), with 2 skippers to guide you.

Zadar: River Zrmanja Guided Kayak Safari & Waterfalls

3. Zadar: River Zrmanja Guided Kayak Safari & Waterfalls

The begging of the trip (clothes changing, instructions, boarding and start of the paddling down the river) is at village Kaštel Žegarski . The part of the route from the village to the mouth of Krupa in Zrmanja and Visoki buk (10 meters high waterfall, the highest on Zrmanja) is hour and a half long, and the waterfall will be bypassed by 5 minutes long walk. Going down the river lasts for approximately 4 hours of which one hour is spent on occasional breaks and swimming. Paddling isn’t hard or dangerous, during the summer; the water is clear and refreshing – perfect adventure for beginners. The trip ends in a village called Muškovci, with some free time for swimming before departure. If you have arrived with your own car, we will drive you to the start point, where you had left your car.

What people are saying about Kaštel Žegarski

What a great adventure!!!! Beautiful river and waterfalls, professional guides and very well organized process from start ( even parking) to the end. We felt safe to "jump" the waterfalls even for our 10 years old son ( all of us without any previous training or experience ). We take the trip in August, the river level was not high and the river was calm. It does require use of paddles all 11 km ( about 3 hours ), but not too intensive... If you are like us ( not so sportive people:) ) don't worry - you will get to the end, proud but tired:). All the adventure takes exactly 5 hours as the provider describe add including preparations before the start, the kayaking, short technical stops and a 30 min brake. But, at least in our case, only drivers were dropped at the parking at the end of trip, so it can add about 30 min to the total time count. Once again - wonderful unforgettable experience, thanks a lot!!!

Nick and Davor, out two guides were amazing and the whole experience is all worth it… I would definitely recommend this!!!

Very well organised and the tour guides navigate you down the river safely. Excellent day out and good value.

Very good, the nice guides and the very pleasant kayak course. We had a great time in beautiful landscapes

It was great experience, i was with my daughter and we had wonderful time together on the river.
