From Page: Buckskin Gulch Slot Canyon Guided Hike

6. From Page: Buckskin Gulch Slot Canyon Guided Hike

Grand Circle Tours offers different hiking options in the Buckskin gulch. We can't say whether this slot canyon is the world's longest but many think it could be. When considering a hike in this area you should ask yourself what skill level and shape you are in. We can offer a scenic hike in Wire Pass and then into Buckskin Gulch that is mostly slot canyon and very flat for those wanting to take it easy and go slow with many photo options. We can also start at the Buckskin Trail where the shapes and petroglyphs are more prominent but no slot canyon section. Whatever choice you make we will show you a great time and you will get many unusual photos of the area. Buckskin Gulch Trail Head: This option is a good choice for those who want the variety of the area all in one hike. Buckskin Gulch trail head includes classic desert views of sandstone domes, large views of the area, wave rocks like near the neighboring North Coyote Buttes area as well as some of the largest petroglyphs in the area. This is a flat hike through the wash for about two miles before reaching the large wave wall. This hike is also a good choice when the Buckskin Gulch is running or wet and muddy. Wintertime can have ice and snow located inside the gulch so this is a good off season option. Hike time is around 4-5 hours and total tour time is 7-7.5 hours in total. Wire Pass Trailhead: This is the shortest and fastest way into the Buckskin Gulch. Wire pass starts out inn a wash and within about 1 mile you begin a very narrow slot that becomes great with color and texture as you move along. Arriving at the confluence of the Buckskin Gulch and Wire Pass we often take a break for something to drink or eat and enjoy the majestic large alcove. After a short break we move onto the Buckskin Gulch itself and walk either up canyon or down canyon for more stunning views. Buckskin gulch offers the special classic slot canyon look some photographers want to see and it’s just adventurous enough for hikers as well. Our total time is 7-7.5 hours and hiking time is 4-5 hours of flat hiking with some possibility of rocky or wet sections.

What people are saying about Kanab

3 day Grand Canyon Tour was fantastic! We went on a full size clean modern bus. Driver Stanley, was a safe good driver. Tour guide, Eduardo, was amazing giving us quite an education of history and facts. We had people on our bus from India, Italy, Australia, and China. Group from Italy needed help with English, so Eduardo spoke in both languages. We visited Grand Canyon South Rim, Low Antelope Canyon (a special tour), Glen Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Park. We stayed in two different hotels; Clarion of Page, AZ and a Quality Inn in Kanab, UZ. They both were comfortable, clean, and included a breakfast...don't expect fancy. It was fun to stop at Route 66 town, old west. When stopping for a meal we had choices to meet different budgets. We learned a lot and saw the most amazing sites! Eduardo made this trip extra special...even as we enter back to Las Vegas he blasted a country song about the city...he captured every possible detail to ensure that everyone had a great time.

This was a great tour. Cannot describe the experience in words. One has experience it and feel it. Since we travelled from India to US, we had more luggage. But they allowed it. The guide was excellent. He had a lot of knowledge about several things. He helped all in the group whenever needed. The driver was also good. Did his job perfectly. The hotels they offered for 2 nights were comfortable. We returned back to Las Vegas by 3pm. So, I guess, we could have spent few more hours sightseeing at Zion rather than spending them in Vegas.

For those, like us, who want to be amazed in a short time, this tour is ideal. I shared these moments with my 10-year-old daughter…unforgettable… The roads are long, of course, but the discovery of all these mythical places steeped in history offers us magical moments. The bus is air-conditioned, comfortable. The guides are friendly.. a small flat on the breakfasts of certain hotels which do not offer much choice.

Very good option to visit the national parks. I was staying in Las Vegas and found it very practical to count on the tour for these long drives. Everything was well organised! Tour guide and driver were super nice and the bus was very comfortable.

Good way to see all the highlights of these parks in a limited amount of time.
