4. Santorini: Tour of Local Wineries with Wine Tasting

You can’t leave Santorini without tasting its amazing local wines, unique because of the volcanic terroir and the different way of cultivation. We can offer you the opportunity to enjoy our local famous wines, such as white dry Assyrtiko and Nikteri and sweet Vinsanto, combined with amazing landscapes. We may start from a new winery, located in Kontochori, close to the centre of Fira, named Anhydrous . The old open -air cinema of Fira was transformed in 2019 into a winery filled with oak wine tanks and large spaces that offer atmospheric wine tastings. Next stop can be the unique Wine Museum of Koutsoyannopoulos located at Vothonas village. This museum happens to be nested in a cave and because of its unique position this natural labyrinth is eight meters below ground and 300 meters long. With the Koutsogiannopoulos family’s knowledge and historical exhibits, guests will get a glimpse of what life was like as a winemaker here. There you will combine the wine tasting with the study of traditional wine preparation. We can finish our special wine trip in an exceptional architectural structure of Venetsanos winery. Located right above the port of Athinios, overlooking the magnificent caldera of Santorini, Venetsanos winery was built in 1947 by Venetsanos family and became the first industrial winery on the island. Its most distinguishing feature is the structural design, as it is built in an unconventional manner constructed from above and moving downwards, which essentially used gravity, facilitating energy efficiency at a time when access to electricity was very limited. What people are saying about Kamari

Dimitris was an amazing guide! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made our tour enjoyable beyond expectations! Pick from our hotel was easy. He called the hotel ahead of time, and organized a pick up spot. The first of the three wineries was a small, family-owned winery in Megalochori. Here, he gave us the option of taking a short walk through the picturesque village to get to the winery. It was a a great added experience! The next winery included an underground museum that was very informative. The last winery was the biggest and most modern. All three were great! The tour also gave us a good chance to see more of the island and for Dimitris to teach us things not just about wine! It was a great tour!

We had a wonderful half day wine tour with Anna as our guide and Lucas as our driver, visiting 3 different locations and having some great service along the way. Anna was so friendly and offered great insight during our tour. Highly recommend! Our favorite stops were the Gaia and the Argyros estates. Gaia was almost empty and we had a beautiful seat just by the beach! Argyros included some great wines and a tour of their facility. Our last stop at the wine museum was interesting and educational although the wines at that location weren't to our group's taste.

Absolutely fantastic. Would book this again ourselves and recommend it to others any day. Our guide went above and beyond and made it a truly unique experience that was an incredible value when all was said and done. In fact, we liked our guide so much that if he stopped by our neck of the woods we would offer him a bed in our own home. And that says a lot.

The tour was very good, fun, and informative! Everything you could possibly want. It was also very easy - pickup and drop off from hotel.

Comfortable transport. Knowledge driver. Lovely mix of wineries
