Discover the pleasant tastes of Kakheti, in the wine region of Georgia. Kakheti is one of the ancient hearths of wine and wine-growing, where wine cultivation started 8,000 years ago. 75% of the grape varieties in Georgia are grown in this region. Visit first Sighnaghi, which is a one-hour drive from Tbilisi. On the way, there will be a short stop for rest and tasting of Kakhetian hot bread, which is baked in the traditional way in the bakery named "Tone". You can also taste cheese and Georgian strong alcohol, also known as Chacha. Upon arrival, learn about the history of the city and visit the local sights. Take the free time to take pictures on the city wall and tower. The next stop is for dinner at a Kakhetian restaurant. Make sure to fill up, as you definitely need to gain strength and prepare for further wine tastings. For wine tasting, you will visit two large wineries in Kvareli. There will be a degustation in the sum of 6 sorts of wine and a short excursion in factories with local guides. Get acquainted with traditional and European methods of making Kakhetian wine. You will be picked up from your hotel at 10:00 AM and will arrive at Bodbe monastery at 11:45 AM. The monastery is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th-century female evangelist, whose relics shrine there.  At 12:45 PM, arrive in Sighnaghi town, an old trading town with a 17th-century defensive wall around it. Cobbled streets and terracotta tile-roofed homes with colorfully carved balconies and breathtaking views of the Alazani Valley give it a very charming character.  At 1:45 PM, visit Sighnaghi Museum. The ethnographic collection features five thousand artifacts, including textiles, copper and wooden domestic items, agricultural instruments, materials corresponding to viniculture, goldsmith works, different types of working instruments, and musical instruments. At 5:30 PM, start to journey back to Tbilisi, and at 7:30 PM, you will be dropped back at your hotel.

Finally, we'll visit a private winery where we'll meet winemakers and taste some of the best wines in Georgia, including the traditional Rkatsiteli amber wine. Visit a traditional Georgian wine cellar in Kakheti. Wine and brandy, chacha, is prepared according to the traditional Georgian standards and recipes. Your host will tell a real Georgian toast as you enjoy your drinks. Take a master class in baking Georgian bread, Puri. Learn how to bake it the traditional way, in a deep circular clay oven called a tone.  At Pirosmanashvili Museum, learn the sad story of the world famous Georgian painter, Niko Pirosmanashvili, also known as Pirosmani. The museum was established in Pirosmani’s home village of Mirzaani in 1960 and includes his family home and an exhibition hall displaying some of his original works and personal belongings. Explore the Monastery of St. Nino in Bodbe. it was originally was built in the 9th-Century and is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia. It holds the tomb of ST. Nino, the Cappadocian maiden who converted Georgian people to Christianity as early as 337 AD. It has a breathtaking view of the Alazani valley and snowcapped Caucasus mountains.  Continue to Sighnaghi, the City of Love. It is the prettiest town in Kaheti. Sighnagi was originally developed in the 18th-century by King Erekle II. The defensive walls and 28 towers were built to protect the city against a Lezgian invasion. There are wonderful views over the Alazani valley to the Caucasus beyond. Take a walk then have a traditional dinner with a workshop to learn how to cook traditional meals. Taste traditional candies of Churchkhela and Pelamushi. 

Take a trip to the birthplace of wine, Kakheti. Be driven from Tbilisi through the Gombori pass, which overlooks stunning landscapes of high mountains. After about two hours of driving, arrive at one of the highest cathedrals of Georgia, Alaverdi, which was built in the 11th century. Continue towards the Napareuli village, known as one of the most distinguished winery microzones in the world, to taste several types of Georgian wine in one of the old wine cellars of the village. Afterward, head to a lovely small city in Kvareli for lunch.  After tasting some of the delicious dishes of Georgian cuisine, continue to another old winery, Khareba Tunnel, with a unique rare wine cellar located in the Alazani Valley. Carved inside the Caucasus mountains and opened in 1962, the cellar is 7.7 kilometers long. After tasting some delicious Georgian wine, head to Tsinandali, another village in the Kakheti region. Visit the beautiful House Museum of Prince Alexander Chavchavadze, which has its own ancient wine cellar or Marani where wine was produced and bottled according to the European method of winemaking, for the first time in the history of Georgia. Learn the old Georgian method of winemaking in special earthenware vessels Qvevri or amphorae, which give a special rich flavor to the wine. Georgian wine making method in Qvevri is in the UNESCO list of intangible world heritage monuments.

During the day tour, you will see the most picturesque and interesting places in Georgia. The first destination will be the ancient capital of Georgia - Mtskheta. It is the center of religious life and one of the oldest cities in the country. Unique sacred relics are collected here - you will be able to touch them. In the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, you will hear how Orthodoxy arose in Georgia. The huge church keeps many stories and legends. Each stone keeps a great story to be told by our experienced guide. Walking along the cozy streets of Mtskheta, you will be able to visit small shops selling souvenirs, sweets, and spices. After visiting Svetitskhoveli cathedral the next spot will be the 6th-century monastery of Jvari. From here opens a gorgeous view of the ancient city and the confluence of two multi-colored rivers. You aren't going to leave the place without beautiful photos! After exploring Mtskheta, we will head to Eastern Georgia, to the Kakheti region. On the way, we will stop for the lunch at the cozy family house. Excellent homemade Georgian food paired with Georgian wines will delight you. Our wine experts will tell you about Georgian winemaking and Georgian hospitality. The next stop will be the Bodbe monastery – another sacred place in Georgia. We will continue talking about rich Georgian history. The territory of the monastery is looking like a beautiful garden with a panoramic view of the Caucasus Mountains. From the monastery, we will drive to the city of love – Sighnaghi. The ride will be short but the views are spectacular. The small town is enclosed by the largest wall in Georgia, which has a walking path. During the walking on the wall, more wonderful views and opportunities for photography will be opened up before us.

Meet your guide in front of your hotel after lunch to start your journey: You will cross the beautiful Aragatsotn Province hills as you drive west from Yerevan in an air-conditioned vehicle. You will arrive at the village Artashavan which is the home of the monument of the Armenian Alphabet. Here you will find giant 39 stone letters dedicated to the founder of Armenia's alphabet. Your tour will make its second stop in Sanain village where the medieval Sanahin church is located. It's one of the greatest Medieval monasteries of Armenia with beautiful architecture. The complex has numerous khachkars (stones with elaborate engravings representing a cross) and bishop grave sites scattered throughout it. After lunch, you will make a stop in Alaverdi town, where the medieval Sanahin bridge is located. It's one of the most significant architectural constructions of medieval Armenia. The bridge is located above the narrow and fertile banks of the River Debed flow. The basalt bridge with its bewitching outlines, type of stone and colour combines with the picturesque surrounding becoming its inseparable treasure. Finally, the tour heads to Hagpat village, where you will enjoy postcard-perfect landscapes and the medieval Hagpat Monastery complex which has unique architecture including the unusual gavit, the defence of the monastery. Haghpaht had a significant influence on Armenian culture. The Sanahin Bridge along with the monasteries of Sanahin and Haghpat is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. In the evening you will be returned to your Yerevan hotel.
