Full description

Start your tour with pickup at the David Citadel Hotel in Jerusalem. Then, drive through the desert in a comfortable vehicle until you reach the Arava Border. Cross the border with assistants, a procedure which may take up to an hour.  At 8:30 AM, transfer from the border to Petra in a new air-conditioned vehicle. This ride takes approximately 2-3 hours.  Enjoy the scenic route along the mountainside before arriving at Petra's historical site, known as one of the New7Wonders of the World.   At approximately 11:30 AM, begin your tour of Petra at the entrance to the site with a maximum group size of 25 people. Explore the highlights of this impressive site with your guide. Next, start your journey towards Aqaba at 4:30 PM. Make a few stops at certain observations points along the way to appreciate the beautiful landscapes that Wadi Rum has to offer.

Booking a one day tour to go see Petra is a tall order, so the value of what we got was to be expected. There were a lot of things I didn’t like, but they were more due to the time crunch than they were to problems with the actual tour. Given the context of the situation, the value is great! This is the main thing I will warn of: You WILL NOT be given an opportunity to really eat until almost 5 PM. This is insane to me because you start the day by being picked up at 3 AM. They do stop along the way, but the first few stops are so early that no food is available and the rest of the stops only have snacks, nothing with substance. They also only give you a short amount of time to eat at the stops and tell you that you can’t eat on the bus. Make sure to pack food. With that being said, our tour guide in Jordan was great and we had an unforgettable experience once we actually got to Petra. This one day tour is NOT for the faint of heart though.

This is the best day trip from Israel to Petra. We will meet at 3:00am in the morning and disperse at 0:00am the next day, but there is no wasted time in the process. It makes sense to go through Aqaba, as you will not be able to cross the King Hussein Bridge border without a prior Jordanian visa. During the 11 hour one-way drive, there are 2 breaks on the Israeli side and 1 break on the Jordan side, but I feel they are necessary for safe driving and for us to use the toilet. You can stay in Petra for 3 hours, 1 hour with a guide and 2 hours at your free time. Petra is so vast that 2 hours is not enough, but it is possible to tour around the Treasury. A guide from Petra will explain the highlights at key points. You can eat at the restaurant only at 16:00 after sightseeing in Petra, so please eat breakfast and lunch during breaks on the way.

Well organised, though a bit more time in Petra would have been better, as we were paying 90JOD (appr. 130€) only for the entrance Though I understand the need to cooperate, the stay in the souvenir shop could have been much shorter. A late lunch as a buffet and bottle of water was inclusive. Enough breaks for WC during the ride, some of them could also have been shorter. All in all the trip was good with suggestions to improve and Petra an amazing place!
