Full description
Take a 10-hour safari tour of the Judean Desert, and discover the lowest place on earth at the Dead Sea. Available with pick-ups in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, each tour starts with a transfer through a Biblical wilderness. Pass the Inn of the Good Samaritan. Then descend to a point beneath sea level. Enjoy distant views of the Biblical city of Jericho, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, and best known as the city that Joshua (Joshua 6) conquered after his troops circled the city walls causing them to fall. Upon arrival at Qumran, see the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Now kept in the Shrine of the Book in Jerusalem, the Scrolls were kept in good condition for 2,000 years thanks to the lack of humidity in the Dead Sea region. Next, transfer to a 4WD jeep to cross the rough desert terrain. Take a thrilling ride through the desert, negotiating the steep inclines, ravines, sand, and rock. Reach the Cliffs of Dragot and look down on the Dragot River. See the Murbaat Caves with their fascinating square entrances. End your adventure by washing away the dust of the desert and cooling off in the Dead Sea. Change into your bathing suit and float in the mineral rich water. Make use of nature's natural face mask - the Dead Sea black mud - and lather it into your skin to benefit from the mud's therapeutic properties.

We first did the Desert Safari and it was awesome. The guide picked us up in a Land Rover and we begin our journey immediately. Stopped at three spots along the trail, each having a spectacular view. The second was the Dead Sea, and it was cold, windy, rainy, and the waves were very choppy. We were told the beach was closed but some people went in anyway. There was a camel there at the beach and we were able to at least get a camel ride - bonus!

The desert safari was really nice, fun and interesting. Our guide Ali knows every possible path well and explained anecdotes and information about life in the desert. Don't be frightened by his car, it looks like a wreck but it works great! The Dead Sea was a little disappointing for us ... we expected something different.

Great Jeep safari, but crowded death sea and AHAVA shop not needed

We loved the tour & ride with Ali. We highly recommend to do this safari tour. We were 6 people in one jeep, Ali is a very good driver. We had cold water for free and we get fresh watermelon for break. Ali was a great guide funny and nice he has a lot of expierience as he lives in the desert. The ride was 4 hours where he explained us the nature, animals and the plants. He gives us an idea how Nomad people live and lived in the desert and how they made it to survive. Which plant can be eaten, which one used as soap. How to find water, where to sleep. How to read tracks in the sand. We saw dromedas, ibex, birds and a yellow scorpion. The nature and beeing in the middle of the desert surrounded with nothing then sand and the view at the Dead Sea in over 300m was amazing Contra: The dead sea afterwards. Huge bus group, the "Kalia Beach" super crowded touristic spot. Not nice. Would recommened to split this tour to just do the safari OR even better add a desert sleepover under the stars
