- Duration: 2 hours
The giant park of Villa Borghese has always been dear to the Roman people as the Borghese family opened their estate on Sundays and holidays. It is a green paradise overlooking the city, a respite from chaotic Rome, a truly authentic Italian experience.
At 148 acres, Villa Borghese is quite an expansive park. To see it all (in style) best rent yourself a bike! They cost around €4 for an hour, or €10 for the day.
There are 12 fountains throughout the park, some modern, some ancient. The sound of running water from a fountain was thought to be calming by the Romans.
The Borghese Gallery consists of 20 rooms across two floors. Some of the most magnificent pieces are 17th century sculptures created specifically for the spaces they occupy.
Situated on the lake is a 19th century temple devoted to the Greek god of health and healing. It was inspired by a similar temple in the Stourhead Gardens of Wiltshire, England.
Tickets for the museum are always sold out, so they must be purchased at least two weeks prior. Booking by telephone avoids a reservation fee that the online ticketing service charges.
Arrive early, because entry times to the museum are strictly followed. Expect the staff to keep you on your two hour time limit moving from room to room.
The main entrance to the park is at Piazzale Flaminio near Piazza del Popolo just North of central Rome. Take the metro to Spagna or Flaminio station.

Great service. They still had tickets the night before my planned visit when all of the other online re-sellers were sold out (including the official Borghese Gallery Website). Very easy to find the meeting point and friendly transfer of ticket.
There are true masterpieces in this gallery (personally I loved Bernini sculptures most) and in combination with the walk through park, this was great experience.
Someone is stationed outside to tell you where to go when you arrive. Gallery was amazing and would recommend going while in Rome.
