10. Lisboa: Old Town, New Town & Belem Full-Day Tour
Start with the New Town at Parque Eduardo VII, you will be able to see the magnificent Lisbon view framed by the Tagus River and understand why Lisbon is known as the city of 7 hills. After this, it's time to explore Principe Real and Miradouro São Pedro de Alcântara, the Bairro Alto lookout point, often considered the most romantic in Lisbon. Here you can look over all of downtown towards the castle and the river. Explore Largo do Carmo, Elevador de Santa Justa, Chiado, Mercado da Ribeira and many other monuments on the way.
After this go towards the Belém monumental area, also known as the Navigation area, this was once the starting point of caravel trips to “the New World” discoveries. You can visit the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, Padrão dos Descobrimentos and Torre de Belém, also making a short break to taste the delicious and typical Pasteis de Belém.
Following this, you will head to explore the beautiful and historical Old Town, start at square Praça do Comércio, also called Terreiro do Paço, which was completely remodeled as part of the rebuilding of the Pombaline Downtown, after the 1755 earthquake. Explore monuments such as the Cathedral, Saint Vicent Outside Monastary, the National Pantheon, and many others. The tour will end with a visit to the typical Alfama, the oldest district of Lisbon, spreading on the slope between the São Jorge Castle and Tejo river.
