We booked the trip on a recommendation by the front desk staff at Oceano Hotel. We were picked up by a bus from the ranch, arrived to welcoming, organized staff, and soon introduced to our healthy, responsive horses. Gerry, our guide, was exceedingly calm and friendly. He explained how to rein and stop the horses, and allowed those who could trot and lope to do so. After passing through several fields, including one that had a cow and her day-old calf in it, we tied up the horses and hiked ten minutes to the swimming holes, fed by mountain springs. This was heavenly! Gerry chatted with us parents as our children had an experience of a lifetime: jumping into a fresh water pool in the middle of a mountain-side, lush forest. The horses did not push home, but minded their manners on the way back as we asked them to walk, trot, and sometimes wait for gates to be opened. Back at our starting point, we washed up and enjoyed fresh fruit.

The experience is really nice, crossing a river a couple times on the horse towards the waterfall. there's a 10 minute hiking/walking at the end to reach the waterfall and one can swim in the pool of the waterfall if thet want. you'll get your shoes wet, as there are 2 points on the trail where you need to cross the river and the rocks are quite slippery if you try to stay dry, so it's safer to just go straight through the water. All in all a great experience, the guides are very friendly and the horses very nice as well.

This was an incredible experience. The guides were great — very reassuring and professional and we felt like we were in good hands the entire time. That being said, this experience is definitely not for those with a fear of heights or who don’t trust themselves physically.

Our guide spoke impeccable English with a few French sentences ... a lot of knowledge. A visit in harmony with nature. The dinner was excellent.

Sylvia, our guide, was fabulous! She was incredibly knowledgeable and adapted our tour to our interests.
