Cosa fare a Nerja Cave
Art, historic sights, fresh seafood – Malaga’s famous for all three. But, did you know this southern Spanish city’s also within throwing distance of some of the country’s most impressive natural landmarks? Spend a few hours exploring Nerja Cave, a 45-minute drive from Malaga’s centre and you’ll see what we’re talking about. This cavern system spreads out for over five kilometres and was discovered in 1959 by a group of young boys who were out exploring. Experts believe the whole place could be older than five million years. And all that time hasn’t been for nothing. Nerja Cave is home to the world’s largest stalactite – it’s over 32 metres tall – as well as intricate rock paintings from the Stone Age, over 12,000 years ago. During your visit, you can tour the public gallery, which includes a lit walkway that weaves around some of the cave’s most impressive rock formations.
