Cosa fare a Hams Caves

4,3/5 (45)

Hidden away near Porto Cristo on Majorca’s east coast, Hams Caves offers an eye-catching trip beneath the island's surface. Discovered in 1905, these underground chambers are famous for their distinctive hook-shaped stalactites, known as “hams” in the local Majorcan language, and are considered one of Majorca’s most interesting natural attractions.

Inside, you’ll find a bunch of illuminated galleries that reveal cryptic rock formations, mirror-like underground lakes, and even a light-and-music show that brings the caves to life.
You can get scenic and atmospheric tours here, which guide you through the different chambers with dramatic lighting that highlights the intricate rock formations. The cool air and quiet atmosphere make it an ideal escape from the island heat. Whether you're a fan of geology, curious sights, or simply looking to do something different, Hams Caves offers an off-beat detour from the usual sun-and-sea itinerary.

“Unfortunately we had to terminate the trip after the dinosaurs and was unable to continue to the caves, as one of our party had a nasty fall, due to the floor being wet and no wet signs. This resulted in a head injury, severe bruising to the back of leg and elbows. My autistic child really enjoyed the dinosaurs”

“Lovely clean site with lots of car parking. The caves were astonishing. Lots of stairs so not for anyone with mobility issues. We weren't issued with a translator phone so missed half of the video until I went and found a guide who then gave us some. The caves are a wonder of nature.”
