Full description
Discover Istanbul's treasures from the Ottoman Empire, beginning at the magnificent Topkapi Palace, the principle residence of the empire's sultans for 4 centuries. The palace is now a museum, hosting extravagant gifts from other leaders of the epoch, including the priceless Spoonmaker's Diamond; the third largest in the world. The Topkapi Museum also boasts an impressive collection of early Chinese ceramics. Here, you can see ceramics that have a special glaze that was said to change color in the presence of poison. Visit the Imperial Treasury housed within the palace, and check out Baghdad Kiosk. Stroll through the ground's glorious courtyards. See the Imperial Treasury's remarkable ancient trees where many are hollow, some are fused together, but all survive. Then see centuries of Ottoman weaponry at the Imperial Armory. The Blue Mosque is an iconic monument in both the Turkish and Islamic worlds. The stunning structure was built in the classical Ottoman style, and features 6 towering minarets and 260 windows that provide illumination for its vast inner chamber that is lined with more than 20,000 Iznik tiles.

It was a shame. It was not a guided tour. The guide just showed us where the key points of the palace were located. After that, she gave us just one hour to visit all the palace... by ourselves! We even had to pay extra money to visit some parts of the palace.

    Istanbul rip off

I would not recommend Neon Tours as they did not deliver what they had advertised. Also they failed to respond to emails and telephone calls whilst in Istanbul either when it came to collecting us form our hotel or complaints about the tour afterwards. The only redeeming factor was that the guide was knowledgable for the sights we did see. Our tour started at 9am and was finished by 11.15 not the 4 hours advertised-we could have spent more time in the Topkapi Palace and the Suleymaniye Mosque was omitted altogether.

A good sample of the Ottoman Empire.

Everything worked fine, excellent organization, very professional guide, but the main attraction (Topkapi Palace) requires more time to be visited. With the exception of the limitation of time, the rest was very good.
