Full description
Discover some of Scotland's most iconic sights on a guided tour of the Scottish Highlands. Watch the Jacobite steam train – aka the Hogwart's Express – cross the Glenfinnan Viaduct, enjoy the views of Ben Nevis, explore Glencoe, and see the most scenic parts of Loch Ness. Start your day early as you leave Inverness and head west along the picturesque shores of Loch Ness towards your first stop, the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Watch the Jacobite steam train cross the 19th-Century aqueduct and spend some time exploring the history and sights of Glenfinnan. Continue your tour as you head to Ben Nevis to admire the view of Britain's highest mountain from the shores of Loch Eli. Here you'll also get to see one of Scotland's hidden gems, the wreckage of the Old Boat of Caol. Enjoy the Highland scenery from your tour bus as you drive through the deep valley of Glen Coe. Learn about this region's tragic history and marvel at the unique volcanic formations, including one of Scotland's most recognizable peaks, Buachaille Etive Mòr. After a short break in Glen Coe and a stop to see the Commando Memorial, your journey continues as you set out to explore Loch Ness. Visit Fort Augustus and see the Caledonian Canal that cuts through the village. Spend some time browsing the local shops or enjoy a bite to eat before strolling down to the shores of the world-famous Loch Ness. Take the road-less-traveled as you drive towards Suidhe Viewpoint, where you'll have another opportunity to admire the fantastic views of Loch Ness and the surrounding area. And finally, visit Dores Beach to see where the locals go to enjoy Loch Ness. Take a stroll along the beach and enjoy the spectacular views. Purchase a handmade monster from Nessie hunter Steve Feltham – unless he is out hunting the beast of course – or enjoy a drink at the cozy loch-side pub.
