Full description

Depart Inverness and travel through the spellbinding landscapes of Speyside towards Dava Moor for some great views of the Cairngorms National Park. Keep your camera ready to capture the vibrant color of blooming heather if you’re visiting in the summer and autumn months. Visit the forest village of Carrbridge. Here, you can get some refreshments, breathe in the cool mountain air, and wander around the Old Packhorse Bridge. Continue south to Glenmore Forest Park, where you'll have free time to explore.

Take an optional walk through the woods to Loch Morlich, which is one of Scotland’s most scenic and popular lochs. You can admire a sandy beach and large and ancient pine trees before you make your way back to the mini-coach. If you prefer not to walk, there’s a café and exhibition at the visitor center.

After working up an appetite, head to Aviemore for lunch at your own expense. Finish off with a dram of whisky at Tomatin Distillery*. Savor the aromas of fruit and spice, and feel the passion for community and environment in this little town clustered around the distillery. Leave the remote landscapes behind and start your journey back to Inverness, where you'll arrive in the early evening.

First, this is a great trip because there are lots of stops and you have a chance to walk around both town and country. Second, there was Duncan, who's knowledge of Scottish history and Lore is pretty amazing. We also got introduced to some pretty awesome scotish music. A prefect day!

Fascinating "taster" of the Cairngorms. I think this should be renamed "Caringorms National Park & Speyside Whisky Tour" for it is not a tour of the Cairngorm mountains as such but rather the whole National Park. The nature of the roads means you get only one view from high up in the mountains, and it is very good, but you do not spend much time there. Other stops are Carrbridge, Boat of Garten (plus steam train), Loch Morlich (amazing beach), Aviemore (a tourist trap but a place to eat), Clava Cairns, and a distillery tour and whisky tasting. Our guide was James and we thought this a day well spent, James was very informative and put everyone at ease.

We had the best time on this tour. I learnt so much I had to take notes on my phone - really interesting! By far the best part of this trip is the distillery tour it was very well organised and we had lots of fun! Our tour guide Kev was extremely knowledgeable and fun and he really made the trip! Even though there was a lot of driving I think it may have been my second favourite part as it meant we got to stare out the windows and take in the magnificent highland views.
