Payette River: Half-Day Rafting & Kayaking Trip

2. Payette River: Half-Day Rafting & Kayaking Trip

Enjoy a half-day trip to the Payette River, just 30 minutes from downtown Boise and the ideal way to escape the summer heat. The river provides the perfect opportunity for first-time inflatable kayakers or a family looking for a fun whitewater trip to get onto the water. With numerous class II and III rapids, the river has enough action to challenge anyone while still being perfect for young children and inexperienced paddlers. Arrive at Beehive Bend boat launch site where you will find parking and a location to change. Verify all the paperwork then climb into a van and head 10 miles upstream to the launch point. Get kitted out with all of the safety equipment and place your valuables in the dry bag. Then, walk down to the river to watch an entertaining and thorough paddling orientation to prepare you for the whitewater action. When the orientation is over, get into the boats and begin your downstream adventure. Warm up with fun rapids like Whitewater 101 and Whitewater 102 where you will quickly start getting wet and having a good time. Put your paddling skills to the test when you reach the first class III rapids. After Bennett’s Rock, Constriction, Mikes Hole and a few others, find a quiet beach to pull over and setup up our afternoon snack. Enjoy some time to swim and take photos while the guides prepare your refreshing riverside treat. After the break, head back onto the river and try your luck on the largest rapids of the day, Mixmaster and AMF. Both of these rapids are class III adventures and provide a thrilling end to the day. After another mile of beautiful scenery and swimming holes, arrive at the takeout where cars will be waiting to return you to the start point.

We absolutely enjoyed it!

Understanding just how to get started was a bit confusing. Thankful for the crew at GetYourGuide, we were able to get help with the process. The actual activity was fun, mind provoking, helpful in pointing out fun facts and things we might have missed. We enjoyed the experience and would try it again in another area!

Fun and challenging

We had a great time walking and seeing the city. There is a LOT of walking so be prepared. Also, make sure you register online after you pay but before you begin the tour. That part was a bit confusing

Great day rafting. Guides were amazing

We really enjoyed rafting with Orange Torpedo on the Payette River. Guides were great and attentive to everyone’s level. We will definitely try the kayaking next time! Thank you for a great day!
