  • Pompeii Reserved Entry Ticket

    2. Pompeii Reserved Entry Ticket

Visit this Roman city with all its temples, theaters, homes, and public buildings. On the morning of August 24, AD 79, the Vesuvius eruption took Pompeii's 11,000 residents by surprise. The dramatic event killed the inhabitants and the city was buried beneath ash. This event created one of the most preserved archeological sites in the world today.  Explore well-known sites such as the amphitheater, the Villa of Mysteries as well as the houses of Vettii and Faun, amongst others.

It's really worth going to Pompeii! However, the tickets onsite are sold for 16 EUR while I paid 22 EUR online. This is annoying. I went there on a Saturday that was supposed to be sold out (online), but they still sold tickets to visitors that did not have a reservation.

Take advantage of an audio guide service to see houses and everyday items that are still almost intact. Experience this everyday Roman town, almost like it was under the Roman Empire.

Don't bother buying any kind of ticket for pompeii other than the official italian ONLINE ticket. there is no 'fast track' 'skip the queue' tickets. the only people who can skip the queue are the ones with the actual online Tickets. Not the getyourguide or any other kind of voucher tickets. also stay away from the Ticket office at the trainstation. even tho there are signs that it deals with getyourguide tickets, it is not the official Pompeii ticket office and they just waste your time there.

Visiting Pompeii and Vesuvius was an amazing and unforgettable experience without any doubt. Anyone who will go to Naples should visit those two places. Our tour guide Francesca, from the other hand, even though gave us all the infos that we needed to learn about Pompeii , was rude and not too easy to communicate especially in the beginning. It was our first time there we knew nothing about where to go or what to do and yet I wanted to ask a question and all I got back was to ignore me. So after that i didn't have much joy in listing to her. Another than that eveything was more than amazing!

Throughout the ruins, you’ll come across death casts: plaster recreations of unfortunate citizens preserved by the superheated volcanic ash. After visiting Pompeii, the coach will take you up the slope of Mt. Vesuvius (from April to mid-November), one of Europe’s few active volcanoes located in the Vesuvius National Park. From here, take a short hike up to the steaming crater for stunning views of Capri and Sorrento. During the winter season between November and March, Mt. Vesuvius is closed, so your tour will follow the coastline and take you to the city of Naples, where you can explore the iconic Castle Nuovo, the famous art deco Umberto I Gallery, or simply wander around th...

Well organized tour and well priced. My only recommendation is to allow more time for Mt. Vesuvius. Having only one hour to climb and descend was not enough time for us to fully aprreciate it.

    10. Pompeii: Half-Day Excursion from Naples or Sorrento

You’ll be picked up at your designated point of departure and travel by comfortable minibus or van to Pompeii on this half-day excursion to explore the ancient ruins of this famous Roman town. Ever since the ancient Greeks settled the area in the 8th century B.C. the region around Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples attracted wealthy vacationers who came for the sun and the stunning scenery. By the turn of the first century A.D. the town of Pompeii, located about 5 miles from Mount Vesuvius, was a flourishing resort for Rome’s most distinguished citizens. Elegant houses and elaborate villas lined the paved streets. Tourists, townspeople and slaves bustled in and out of small factories and artisan shops, taverns and cafés and brothels and bathhouses. People gathered in the 20,000-seat arena and lounged in the open-air squares and marketplaces. Your tour guide will show you the most i...

Great trip with very good guide. Only negative thing was the transport to Pompei, pick up was 10 min late and then at one hotel the driver waited for more than 20 minutes for passengers that did not show up in the end. I think it it is enough to wait for max 10 min.
