  • Terceira Azores: Caves and Craters

    1. Terceira Azores: Caves and Craters

Explore the beauties of Terceira Island, visiting mountains, hills, craters, volcanoes and caves. This tour is in the afternoon, and you are going to visit all the center of Terceira island (places where the public bus doesn't go). Pick-up at your accommodation is at 2:00 p.m. The first place where you are going is to the tallest mountain of the island. From there and depending on the visibility you can see the other island of the Azorean archipelago. Then it's time go visit the first cave (Gruta do Natal = Christmas cave) which is a lava tube. After that you will be amazed with the fumaroles field (Furnas do Enxofre), Algar do Carvão. It's the highlight of the tour, because it's an empty volcano you can go in. Before a cheese tasting, a stop at Serra do Cume for a spectacular view over one of the largest craters ever formed on Terceira island Azores.

Our guide Kris was awesome and very knowledgeable about the caves, craters and more. She was super friendly and had a great personality. The cheese tasting at the end was excellent.

We like it mainly because it is an activity with lots of information and the opportunity to learn a lot about the island. It was well planned (it was a full 4 hours but no rush) - special highlight for the friendliness and attention of our guide, Miguel!

Well worth the time and money spent.

Enjoined every minute of it.The sites they showed us were what the information said we would see. Guide was very knowledgeable.

Very pleasant tour with calm visits to the most distinguished places on the island, always well explained by Rodrigo.

Outstanding tour! Every aspect was perfect. The volcano experience alone was more than worth it. Highly recommended.
