On this guided hike, discover the alpine beauty just a short drive away from Granada. Join a local guide as you explore the mountains around the town of Monachil, known as Los Cahorros. Embark on a hike along the Monachil River and take in the sights of the Sierra Nevada beyond. Begin your tour in Granada, where you'll meet your guide and go on a short drive to reach the town of Monachil. Just beyond the town hall, park and set out on your hike. Walk along the Monachil River until you reach the limestone gorge. Continue along the path and cross several hanging bridges over the gorge. Look down the gorge to catch glimpses of the challenging climbing areas frequented by the "Cahorros school." Venture further upriver as you climb steps and use anchored iron bars for a handrail. Next, enter the Palomas tunnel, created by large stone blocks embedded in the narrow part of the gorge. As you reach the other side, enjoy the fresh scent of pine forest that surrounds you. Then, admire the breathtaking views of the peaks of Cerro Huenes, "Los Pollos," and "Cerrajón." Follow your guide along a suspension bridge to begin your return journey. Before you reach Monachil, pause along the riverbank for panoramic views of Los Cahorros and a summertime swim. Once you've arrived in town again, enjoy a relaxing ride back to Granada to complete your tour.

Depart the city center of Granada in an 8-seater combi van and arrive at the small town of Olivares, about 35 minutes away.  Start the guided hike along the Velillos River and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of typical Mediterranean nature. Try to spot some of the typical species that live in the region including many birds and mountain wildlife.  Cross a suspension bridge and walk through Tajos de la Hoz, an incredible natural gorge formed by the constant flow of the river. Climb a staircase that gives a fantastic panoramic view of the region.  Continue in search of the ancient cave paintings, followed by some time relaxing by the fountain of La Corcuela, before finally returning to Granada.

YOU MUST DO THIS TOUR- it would even better if you did it on day one. Juanita is a representation of the LOVE and BEAUTY of the people of Granada. In 2 hours, she was able to captivate all of us in an intimate tour, delivers so much knowledge to us in a way that gives respect to all cultures. I felt like I was walking with my friends !
