Admire the fortress, the Generalife Gardens, and the palace complex in all their splendor. Embark on a journey through history spanning from the palace's reconstruction by the Sultan of Granada in the 13th century, to its transformation into the Royal Court of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella following the Reconquest. Look out over the white houses of the Albaicín neighborhood below, and walk among fountains and beneath ornate, horseshoe-shaped arches. Marvel at the mix of Moorish and Christian architecture. Explore the residences of kings and sultans, see the spectacular ceiling in the Hall of the Boat, and snap pictures in the famous Court of the Lions. We, a family of 4 with 2 girls of 13 and 10, visited the Alhambra in early January on a slightly wet and very cold day. Despite the weather it was a truly memorable experience. The monument lived up to all the reviews we had read, beautiful gardens of Generalife and stunning Nasrid Palaces and almost no other visitors at that time! My only complaint was the price I paid. I booked through Get Your Guide and paid €115 for 4 tickets with audio guide. I knew I was paying almost as much as a guided tour but with 2 young children I did not want to be tied to a 3-hour tour. When we arrived we discovered there were hardly any visitors and plenty of tickets available on the door at a cost of €14.75 for adults and free for children under 12! I understand there are admin costs but being charged almost 300% when tickets were fully available at face value left a very bad taste. I am still glad we went but hate being left with the feeling of having been ripped off.

Alhambra is really a lovely place to visit in Granada but a live guide would have been more interesting. We visited Seville and Cordoba with live guides and it was more interactive and more informative. I was not able to visit Nasrid due to schedule constraint but the other sites in Alhambra are open from 830am to 6pm.

Alhambra was spectacular. Only complaint was that ticket voucher sent by email had a different entrance time for Nasrid Palace than original voucher and reminder emails. We went for the original earlier time listed as 10:00 am but had to wait until 3:00 pm for entrance. Vouchydid not match with original ticket voucher and email reminders.
