What people are saying about Gorreana Tea Factory

João gave our small group of 6 an excellent tour of Furnas and the north west of São Miguel. We stopped briefly in Vila Franca do Campo before driving on to the amazing village of Furnas which sits on the floor of a huge caldera, along with Furnas Lake. There is a lot of volcanic activity in Furnas, and we saw many fumaroles, including those used for cooking the famous Furnas stew, tasted naturally carbonated mineral water, and visited the botanical garden and thermal pool at Parque Terra Nostra, where we had a relaxing dip in the very hot, very iron-rich water. After leaving Furnas we visited other great lookout points and a local tea plantation and factory.

Hugo was a wonderful tour guide! He made the tour fun and informative. It was a very small group and friendly. And it included a delicious lunch I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience part of the island! Hugo also picked everyone up at their hotels, which was extremely convenient.

Nuno, our guide, was excellent. Kind, funny, and a true local who imparted all the rich history of the island on the group. He was patient with us, fun, and engaging. We also met other travellers on the trip who we'll remember forever! This expedition was definitely the highlight of our trip.

Our guide Nuno was very personable and professional. We saw a lot on the tour and he’s clearly passionate about the island and everything it has to offer.
