Full description

Visit the sights that inspired the 'Outlander' TV series on this day trip from Glasgow aboard a climate-controlled mini-coach. Stop at the town of Falkland and Culross. Step back in time as you take in views of the castles of Midhope, Stirling, and Blackness.

Depart from your meeting point in Glasgow and journey past Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument to Doune Castle, or as it’s called in Outlander, Castle Leoch. This formidable building gives insight into the life of a Scottish earl in the 14th century.

Listen to an audio guide about how this castle was used as a filming location for 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail.' Head north to your next stop, the small town of Falkland, to relive the first scenes of the show. See if you can recognize familiar sights such as Mrs. Baird’s Guesthouses and the Bruce Fountain.

Drive to Midhope Castle where you can stop to get a picture of Jamie’s lovely Lallybroch home. Make your way to Blackness Castle, known as the ‘ship that never sailed’ because of its resemblance to a giant stone boat.

Travel to the charming village of Culross, the 'Outlander' village that posed as the fictional village of Cranesmuir, and the home of Geillis and Arthur Duncan. Feel like you're traveling back in time as you explore the town's cobbled streets.

Look carefully to spot Claire’s herb garden behind the historic Culross Palace. From here listen to stories that inspired Outlander on the drive back to Glasgow.

Fantastic! A knowledgeable guide makes all the difference. Grrreham (with 3 r's!) was great. Lots of information and not just about Outlander but history of the area we were travelling through also. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and great value for money. Rabbie's wins again!

James ("Jamie" to the ladies!) was an excellent guide and very smooth driver! He filled us in on much of Scotland's history in the areas we were traversing, as well as the sites we visited. "9 hours" seemed like a long time for a tour, but it flew buy. "Jamie" provided great background for each of the sites we were visiting, so that our tours of each were enhanced with great insight. Not only was it our first trip to Scotland, it was our first full day, so it was a relaxing way to see and learn about Scotland while adjusting to the time change too. Our other travel around Scotland was enhanced by the info Jamie provided. As one would imagine, many huge Outlander fans our tour and Jamie was up to the task. He had great stories and usually gave fair warning when a corny joke was coming... A very comfortable and great start to our 1st visit to Scotland.

Fantastic spots to see, an amazingly clean bus and James as our Tour Guide was simply charming. Highly recommendable - also for those who haven't watched Outlander. The castles and all sort of sightseeing spots are beautiful also without the context of the series.
