What people are saying about Giverny

We took a tour that included Giverny, Monet’s home and gardens in Normandy, and Versailles in the afternoon. Our guide, Marcello, provided a great introduction on the drive north, with good advice about “must see” views in the gardens. Arriving in the chilly autumn morning meant the sunlight suffused the gardens, with a surreal insight into Impressionism. Even in October the flowers were blossoming. Whether you prefer the Normandy gardens or the lily ponds you will enjoy. Lunch was a few km away in a new/old restaurant that shuttles people from numerous tour parties, with mechanical precision. Again, Marcello regaled us with Louis XIV, rattling off statistics from the number of fireplaces to the vertical rise in the Seine to fill the canals, all with a merry twinkle. you can only see the brisk tour of the palace in half a day. To see the gardens complete is a week. But the image of a fountain in the canal ejaculating each time Le roi stepped theatrically was priceless.

These two venues together, Giverny and Versailles, are a big bite of French culture and delicious to chew. Definitely worth the combo if you only have half a day to spend on each--and frankly, we found that to be enough. Loved Monet's flower gardens and lily pond, and a glimpse into his daily environs! In complete contrast, Versailles' opulence, grandeur, and mere size was breathtaking. Our guide was excellent, and really made the epoch come alive. We would have liked to have heard the music in the gardens but it was sprinkling out (14 Oct 2022) and we really didn't have time. Excellent choice of tours, worth its price.

Wonderful experience and I highly recommend this tour. The weather was great, the village was charming but the gardens were spectacular. Our guides were engaging and well-informed. We appreciated the pace of the tours and that we had plenty of free time for a delicious lunch and to wander.

Isabelle was sour tour guide and it was wonderful from beginning to end. We also enjoyed the small group and getting to know them better over lunch. Isabelle was very knowledgeable and accommodating. I highly recommend this tour!!
