Ghent: Walking Tour from Friday Market to the Cathedral

2. Ghent: Walking Tour from Friday Market to the Cathedral

During the bus tour, you will see the Millionaires' Quarter, St. Peter's station, the nearby avenues with Art Nouveau and Art Déco exteriors, St. Peter's square with St. Peter's church and Vooruit, the building of the socialist trade union. Ghent is historical and contemporary at the same time and is crossed by a number of canals and by two rivers, Scheldt and Leie. In preparation for a universal exhibition which was organised in 1913, Ghent renovated many squares and buildings, for example, the 1000 year old Count's Castle. During the walk in the old town center, you will discover the beauty and the stories of the picturesque streets and canals. Start at the Woodrow Wilson square and discover historical Ghent including the fortress Gerard de Duivelsteen and St. Bavo's cathedral with "the Mystic Lamb" by Jan Van Eyck. You will see the Belfry, the Town Hall, the Friday market, the Patershol and the old Fish Market. The old harbor offers the finest views of St. Michael's church and Ghent's famous three towers: the tower of St. Nicholas' church, the Belfry and the tower of St. Bavo's cathedral.

What people are saying about Ghent

Despite bad weather (rain and cold wind) the tour was a nice experience that brought us closer to Ghent. The guide was a real professional who also steered the relatively large group well and conveyed his information spiced with many nice anecdotes in an easy-to-understand, powerful voice in very good English. Very small criticism: speak a little more slowly and calmly forego some information.

Highly recommend this tour as a way to get a broader view of Ghent. We were taken to some great spots we would not have seen otherwise and learned many interesting facts about the beautiful city. You don't need to be a strong cyclist to enjoy the tour, but do need to be comfortable on a bike.

A fun bike ride where you see a lot of things that you wouldn't immediately go to. Very enthusiastic guide who knows a lot about the city of Ghent. And which gives a nice view of the art in the city. Highly recommended!

Bram de reisleider was fantastisch, we hebben ons kostelijk vermaakt en ook nog een boel interessante en leuke feiten over Gent geleerd. Zeker een aanrader!

Nice guide who drives you around Ghent in an original way Shows very beautiful and special places
