  • From Reykjavík: Golden Circle with Snorkel in Silfra

    1. From Reykjavík: Golden Circle with Snorkel in Silfra

Experience the different geothermal landscapes of Iceland's legendary Golden Circle on a small group tour from Reykjavik. Listen to Icelandic music as you travel by minibus to Þingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart. Gaze in awe as you get a clear view of this massive geological activity. Watch the water melt from Iceland's second biggest glacier as you make your way to Gullfoss Waterfall. Marvel as hot spring water erupts from the earth in the geothermal area of Geysir. Then, snorkel in the extraordinary Silfra rift, considered one of the top dive sites in the world. Glide between tectonic plates floating on pure, filtered glacial meltwater.

We had two guides, Hallur and Ronan. It was because of them that this trip was so enjoyable! The waterfall was majestic and extremely windy. The geysir was tiny but still worth a visit. Then Hallur brought us for some delicious ice cream. It shocks the body to enjoy ice in the cold but the texture was just too good to put down the ice cream. Then, we went snorkelling with Ronan. Right off the bat, he was friendly and most kind. He got to know each one of us personally. He was a diver in the navy so you can rest assured that you're in safe hands! Ronan made the snorkelling experience like a party. We had so much fun. The waters were clear and mesmerizing. And the hot chocolate that comes after was the best thing ever. I was nervous about the cold before, but the cold didn't cross my mind at all while snorkelling. It was an awesome experience. Ronan was amazing too, as he always went out if his way to help us. Amazing trip overall! Highly recommended! The guides should get a raise too ;P

Overall this tour was great. It really boils down to who your tour guide is to make or break the experience. Our driver/tour guide ( don’t remember his name) was more on the quiet side and didn’t really talk much. When he did talk, it was really hard to hear him on the bus and he didn’t really give a whole lot of information about the the places we stopped at. The highlight of this tour was snorkeling between the tectonic plates. Our guide David was very energetic, fun and knowledgeable. He and his crew were very helpful and efficient with putting on and taking off the dry suits and making sure everyone was comfortable. He also took tons of photos and sent them the same day. As a side note, don’t wear jeans if you are planning on this excursion. Thermals and leggings are a must. The water is cold but you will get used it. This was so worth it.

This combo tour was a great way both to see major sites like Gullfoss and experience the snorkeling, which was the highlight. If you have ever experienced Yellowstone National Park USA geysers and hot springs, be prepared to be underwhelmed. However the hike to the hilltop overlooking the geyser field and The Valley behind it behind it was worth the stop itself.

It was a really nice trip. The guide David was really good. We enjoyed a lot. It was the perfect combination in the Golden circle. Pablo took us underwater pictures im Silfra! Thank you! Fully recommend it.

This was such a perfect experience! Loved it and the snorkeling experience is so worth it!
