Know what you're getting yourself into! This is a kind of add on tour to the main bus group that goes to the Aran Islands as well as the Cliffs. I was the only 'explorer' in my day's group- the guide goes on to the ferry with the others. You will be going unguided on your walk, which is exactly what I was hoping for :) The trail is quite easy to navigate by yourself, and you'll probably run into kindred travelers along the way. It took me about 3 hours, walking very leisurely, and often stopping in awe, so don't be afraid to take your time. My tour guide Pather was lovely and very informative on the bus to and from Galway. Would strongly recommend!

This tour is cool but I wouldn’t call it fully guided- basically you get dropped off at the Doolin ferry area and then have to find your way to the path without a guide. Thankfully there was another couple on this with me. It’s about a 3.5 mile hike to the visitor center- don’t make my mistake and bring proper boots. It’s extremely muddy in areas. At times the route was confusing but because we didn’t have a guide we kind of just did it ourselves. It takes around 2 hours to complete the hike, and then you can explore the visitor center. The time could be cut down by an hour and a half, as the visitor center and getting food doesn’t take that long so I felt like i was wandering around for a while. The guide on the coach was very nice. This is a great tour if you want to see areas of the cliffs most don’t get to see.

Wonderful to walk the path that from Doolin takes you to the entry point of the Cliffs of Moher, it took us about 2:30 walking calmly in a path that is all in all safe, but with small exceptions (part of the path includes passing in the middle of cow pastures, nothing so difficult). It is necessary to be equipped with technical clothing for trekking and to have a good raincoat, given the ease of running into showers. Experience that I would do again immediately.
