Enjoy beautiful moments on this trip while surrounded by nature. You begin the climb with the first of the day's sun's rays to get the most out of this challenging activity. Your guide will provide you with interesting information about the islands and the volcano's biodiversity. This is a challenging but highly rewarding climb. This activity is recommended for those who are already active as it is classified as a medium/high difficulty route. You will start at Casa da Montanha (Mountain House). The activity lasts 8 hours: it is roughly a 3-hour trip to the summit and then takes approximately 4 hours to get back down, depending on the group's pace. There are four official stops on the way up and at least two on the way down. Views from the mountain will depend upon weather conditions. The track is above the volcanic rocks, so some parts are very slippery and others are steep. The tour was great fun even if the descent was really hard in the end. Our guide was also great and funny. If you stand at the top of the volcano you have a magnificent view. You could hike up alone, but you really have to be careful here and there which way you go (because there are no such right ways). And hiking in a group is also much more fun.
