Full description
Your private tour starts with pickup from your accommodation and heads to the first stop of the day, the city of Ribeira Brava, known for the charms of its wild stream. Admire the stunning natural landscape here before the tour continues on towards Ponta do Sol, a cultural village home to a beautiful downtown area and harbor. On the next stop of the tour, visit the Madalena do Mar Harbor and meet the local fishermen earning their catch for the day. Marvel at the picturesque houses that surround the harbor and then head to Calheta, famous for its artificial sand beach and production of sugar cane rum. There’s the option to visit the rum factory here, if you fancy a tour and a tasting session. After Calheta, head onto the mountains of Prazeres to visit an animal farm center and try their award-winning jellies. From the farm, the tour takes you onto Ponta do Pargo to see the most visited lighthouse in Portugal. Admire the incredible view of the lighthouse and the surrounding ocean scenery, and soak up the glorious Madeira sunshine. Continuing on the tour of the island’s charms, the next stop is the must-see viewpoint at Fajã Ovelha, before traveling along old roads and tunnels towards Paul do Mar. At this final stop of the tour, wander around this traditional fishing village and its Moorish style houses, then visit the seaside to marvel at the fishermen statue there.

Everything we had hoped for and more.

Richard made our tour perfect. He went over the history of each place we visited especially Paul do Mar where my ancestors were from. We even discovered a possible distant relative. Enjoyed the entire day.
